Old lore ig

Toffee is The Guide to Gold. She manages dragons that might find a home in the Mortal Clan.
Unless she is posted in an adoption thread, she cannot be adopted.

She can be bought for a considerable price even if not posted, as long as she has a successor to take her place, chosen by the buyer.

List of previous Guides:
Bledig

Toffee was one of a nest of five; as the eldest. Her other siblings were not as fortunate as her in terms of colouration, leading to them not having a great chance at a good home.

Toffee was close to her youngest sister, Coffee, who was also fortunate with not just her colouration like Toffee, but her genes too. While they were incredibly close, Toffee couldn't help but feel jealous of her little sister.

That soon changed, when the previous Guide to Gold, Bledig, was left to a higher clan. This left Toffee and Coffee, alone. The ambassador of the higher clan selected Toffee to become the new Guide to Gold; her being the eldest sibling.

Toffee was ecstatic. She had found not just a home, but a job with the promise of eventual retirement. As the Guide to Gold, her job was to watch over the new arrivals that could find a forever home in the Clan, something Toffee had wanted. It gave her great joy to see the looks on the hatchling's faces when she told them they were to stay.

In all this excitement, Toffee forgot something. But what was it? She felt fulfilled, yet not fully whole.
Her sister.
Her sister had vanished.

After days of searching with no success, Coffee was finally brought back to the Clan, on Exalt Row. She had failed to find a home elsewhere, and had nowhere else to go. Toffee, however, was not informed of this.

It wasn't until she heard the whispers of the other dragons did she notice something amiss. She briefly abandoned her duty; asking Flint to cover for her.

A group of dragons had gathered around the entrance to the Guide's Grotto, and when Toffee parted the sea of dragons, she saw Coffee, safe, whole, and wearing black robes.

Coffee is the Wayfinder. She oversees dragons that have come to the end of their journeys. Each of the dragons has had their fair chance at a home, but if one takes your fancy, they can leave. They are free to good homes if posted in an adoption thread. If they have not been posted and they have already been trained, each dragon can be purchased at 13,000 treasure.

When they were younger, Coffee and her elder sister Toffee were both up for adoption, but sadly, none would have them.

Due to an unexpected twist of fate, the prior Guide to Gold was relieved of duty, leaving room for one to take his place. Unfortunately, Coffee was not chosen for this task, being the younger sibling.
Toffee took the position of The Guide to Gold, a place where fortunate young dragons may find a forever home within the Mortal Clan.

This left Coffee more alone than ever. She waited with her sister until they both became dragons, but then she had to leave. There was just no room for her.

She was sent to the Jura Clan, where she met more dragons like herself, that couldn't find a home. Here, they had another chance to find homes, but things looked bleak for them all.

She assured herself that her sister would come for her, take her back home, and things could go back to the way they were.
But she never did.

When her time was done, her chances lost, she was sent back home, on Exalt Row, where dragons with no home or purpose are sent.
Here, she consoled the dragon sent along with her, Frukul, showing the Clan that she had similar compassion to her sister.

Instead of exalting her, they made her their first Wayfinder. They gave her a job similar to her sister Toffee's, where, instead of watching over hatchlings that would have a bright future ahead, she would tend to dragons that had come to the end of their travels.

But Coffee didn't hate it.
She only wanted a purpose. To matter.

And she found it.
