Favorite Familiar: Bearded Pupowl

Long ago, a clan lived in the castle now occupied by the Clan of Gleam and Gloom. The dragons and their familiars flourished until a handsome and captivating Pearlcatcher came to their midst, named Alioth. He would not say where he had come from, only that he was seeking rest. He dealt with strange magics that none of the clan understood, but they saw no danger in his antics. He was able to see beyond what others could discern with his many eyes, and he was a smooth talkers, so the clan gave him special status. Little did they suspect that he would bring their doom.

Unknown to the clan, who could not see the spirit, Alioth summoned an ancient SpiritOfChaos to do his bidding. The spirit wreaked havoc on the clan, causing accidents and misfortunes which made the members turn on each other with blame and accusations. In the end, the clan destroyed itself while Alioth stood in the shadows, watching. When the halls and chambers of the castle were empty, Alioth turned toward the doors leading to the courtyard, intending to leave the deserted lair and find another clan.

When he stepped into the sun-dappled courtyard, a flash of light meet his eyes. It was the SpiritOfGleaming, a light-filled spirit that was too blinding for Alioth to see. He realized his danger, but the spirit struck before he could flee. Alioth was reduced to a bottle of enchanted remains, and his SpiritOfChaos, lost without a master, hid deep within the caverns beneath the castle, unknown and unseen to all but those with multiple eyes.

Years passed. Finally, the Clan of Gleam and Gloom settled in the ruins of the castle. The SpiritOfGleaming revealed herself to them, vowing to guide and protect them. But deep within the caverns, Kyros searched for relics to further his magical power. He came across the bottle of enchanted remains and used strange magics to resurrect Alioth. The formerly beautiful Pearlcatcher is now hideous to behold, but his resolve is still strong. Indebted to Kyros for bringing him back to life, Alioth has said that he will help Kyros harness the SpiritOfChaos' power. Whether his promises are empty words or not remains to be seen...
