Doll does not know how she came to be. One day, her pretty glass eyes blinked, her little joints stirred, and this tangle of a puppet pulled her pieces together. Vague memories of warm, loving hugs and hours of fun live in her mind, before she was shattered and forgotten. Her friend, Chitin, remains with her, though he is yet to be reanimated. With the addition of movement, she has also gained something else: the need to eat. An ancient hunger lies within her: craving, ravenous, insatiable. The more she eats, the hungrier she becomes. Where one meal used to last for weeks, she now must eat constantly. There is a voice in her head, urging her to consume, to become stronger, to seek the one who left her behind. Every day she sets out from her hollow to search for the one who abandoned her. But for what reason, she can no longer remember. All she knows is that she is tied to this place, and if she wishes to leave, she must break that which binds her here. And every time she returns, covered in blood, she does not remember where it came from.

She doesn't know that she is binding herself to this place, with the memories of the one she loved and was loved by, the hope that they will return and retrieve her. But as her memories fade and her hunger grows, her ties weaken.

The only thing that remains is Chitin. She no longer remembers who he is, but she cannot bring herself to discard him in this wretched place. So she remains, forgetting herself, her memories, her own actions, but always, always, remembering to return to him.

The hollow Doll tilts her head. "You would like to know the way out?" She sighs. "So would I, stranger." She wanders off, leaving some bones behind. You are no more informed than before, but you are also unharmed.
