—APPEARANCE—
Deathclaw.
The name brings to mind a fierce beast. Huge, razor-sharp talons. Horns curled skyward. A deafening roar and a rush of armored, scaly death. Blood on the dirt.
This young lady is all that and more. Behind her cherry red hair and the dust on her patchwork leather coat lies the ferocity of every monster she has ever put down… and every piece of the Wasteland she has ever claimed as her own.
—HISTORY—
Her childhood was not a peaceful one.
One of two survivors rescued from the wreckage of a clan swallowed up by the Wandering Contagion, Deathclaw was weaker than her sister. Her keepers, unable to care for both, abandoned her in the Wasteland, expecting her to die.
How wrong they were. Thrown to the wolves, she became their alpha. Wearing the skull and hide of some monster she found decaying in the wastes, she terrified the clans she stumbled across. They saw her as a glorious avatar of the Rotmother’s tenets. Had they been able to peer behind the rotting scales and deadly claws, they might have realized she was only a child.
As the abandoned child grew, so did her story. The wastelanders named her Deathclaw, for her ruthlessness and for the massive, bloody claws strapped to her arms.
The King of the Wasteland, they named her, though she was barely out of her adolescence. So the King of the Wasteland she became. And now, she cuts a bloody swath across the Rotmother’s domain, claiming it as her own. If the goddess of this land has abandoned her, then she will make the land’s people abandon their goddess. They will worship a god-king with red-stained claws.
And she will accept their worship with a savage smile on her face.
—ASSOCIATIONS—
Children raised by the Banescale flock that protect the Church of the Rotmother rarely leave its grounds. On the rare occasion that they do, they serve their goddess as traveling preachers, witch and monster hunters, or—in some bizarre cases—monsters themselves. Hemorrhage’s militant training instills in them the resilience they will need to survive the world they’ve only ever seen from atop the steeple, while their experiences working alongside Kuru teach them adaptability and the eclectic talents that come with it.
Of course, not all of them complete their training, but those that do are eager to share the teachings of the Rotmother; only the strong survive, but even the dead have their uses.
