Claim!
Poseidon, King of the oceans, Herald of the seas.
Perhaps, the whispers were right. There is no place for you on land.
He longed to return to his home; the crashing waves in which he could dissolve, becoming one with the element he swore to protect. The creature could move from one side of Sorneith to the next in a matter of days, using the currents to propel him through the bubbling waters. Monsters of the sea followed in his wake, bewitched by his presence alone.
Ships cracked and burned before him. Travellers disappeared beneath the ocean's lapping waves before his eyes.
He strived for more.
Poseidon claimed his work purifying.
He rid the seas of the cursed beasts in which roamed the earth, for they did not belong atop the oceans. He aided the wounded creatures of the waters, as they deserved life beyond their bounds. Tales were spoken about a relentless monster lurking in the deepest depths of Sorneith's oceans, but he did not see himself so. Poseidon belonged to the ocean, and it, to him. There was no monster, nor beast. He was simply cleansing his home of the pests who infected it. He was not a dragon, nor was he a god. He did not believe himself to be alive -
merely a vessel.
However, when the sun had set one fateful night, fierce clouds shrouded the once deep blue skies. A dark blanket of rain washed over the world of Sorneith. Dragons hid in their dens, begging the Stormcatcher for mercy against the violent storms that swept through their homes. Poseidon, too, feared the deity's wrath, for it stripped him of his power. The sea was not his. It bit back, betrayed him, threw him out. No longer did it surrender to his control.
In the midst of the storm and his battle with the ocean, Poseidon was struck by the lightning crackling over the unforgiving waters. He washed up not far from the cliffs of the Shifting Expanse, less than a day's flight from the golden landmark "Turrets of Goldensparc". Instead of the vessel he had once been, Poseidon now lay within the body of a dragon. Upon being founded by a nearby clan, he was taken in, and taught the ways of their evergrowing family.
It was not long before the dragons he once loathed clued into the oddity that was Poseidon. He resembled no breed they held recorded in their scrolls, possessing more features of the sea than any true dragon they knew of. Whispers trickled down from dragon to dragon. "He does not belong here", they would say.
"Send him back to the seas."
And oh, how he wished he could.
But the seas thrived in the freedom they did not know they could hold,
and laughed from the cliffs as they watched him roam the Lightning Domain,
wounded and defeated.
