Samsarah was blown in by a warm desert wind one day. Ritornello says he almost took off his wing when he flew them over the Boiling Sea from the Windswept Plateau. (The Pearlcatcher is deathly afraid of water.) No one really knows Samsarah's reasons for coming to the Land of Fire: some speculate he was too violent for the peaceful Wind dragons and was exiled; others joke that he meant to go to the Plague Pits and took a wrong turn. Few would wish to ask the scarred Pearlcatcher, who slinks about the cavern with gnarled limbs and slitted, hunting eyes. Usually, his mouth opens only to reveal a sharp-toothed grin or a bloody maw as he crunches through cartilage and bones. He seems to possess an unquenchable bloodthirst and takes great glee in battles and hunts, often tearing into the creature after it is long dead. Samsarah has no great battle prowess, but his mindless greed and lack of limitations make him far more horrifying than the clan's more skilled warriors. It is only in battle that his voice is heard, a hoarse, coughing laugh. He wears his preys' skeletons as costumes. Dragons are weary to leave their young hatchlings around him; eggs have been known to disappear without a trace whenever he is around. He has no mate: few can take the gluttony and pain that he calls love.
