{ Subterranean Cartographer }

Master Map-Maker | Son of Lujah | Explorer

Ezekiel is a quiet dragon, which suits his profession well. He'd always preferred the environment beneath the earth rather than the surface. This might seem strange for a dragon with a Light Flight heritage, but Ezekiel never was quite ordinary.

During his first visit to the Ashanimus Clan, Ezekiel's love for subterranean exploration was renewed with a passionate vigor. The ancient caverns and long-dormant volcanoes of Dragonhome were always a fascinating subject for him, but the living earth below the ground in the Ashfall Wastes was a brand new experience for the Skydancer. He became enamored with the life blood of Sorneith; the boiling rock and metal that coursed through the world's veins. He returned to Dragonhome with a new sense of purpose. He wished to chart the world left much unseen. Maps would be his craft.

After his seventeenth name day, the Elsewhere dragons sent him to the Ashanimus Clan once again, but this time to enter into an apprenticeship with the resident cartographer, Ambrym. Ezekiel wasn't the best student, finding himself getting easily bored with the theory of cartography. He would much rather explore and conduct field studies. But, as he came to understand, in order to paint the world, one must learn do it justice.

It would be a slight against the navigational spirits to leave out even the smallest mark of elevation, boy! Ambrym would sing.

And so, Ezekiel became more diligent in his craft, honing his skills and learning how to observe each and every feature of the land in order to convey it properly on parchment. Ambrym had been informed of Ezekiel's obsession with the world below ground, but he'd never considered that Ezekiel would want to map it. Having little experience in such a specific field, Ambrym did his best to help Ezekiel apply the foundations of cartography on the surface to drawing up maps of the world underground.

Ezekiel eventually completed his apprenticeship three years later and was recognized as a certified cartographer specializing in subterranean map making. With experience under his proverbial belt, he returned to Elsewhere and began peddling his services and maps in Cairnestone.

Some years later, the Elsewhere Clan welcomed a new dragonelle into the family as a mate for Ezekiel. This arrangement is solely for the purposes of producing offspring with a specific color range. While Ezekiel cares for Jalander and she him, the two are not considered life-mates and truth be told, think of each other more as friends. Ezekiel is actually much closer to Aschelaan, who often accompanies him on cave explorations, though the two have never been romantic.

On one summer's eve, a letter arrived in the post that sent news of Ambrym's unexpected passing. The details of the tragedy weren't all that clear and a solemn hush fell over the entire Elsewhere clan for some days, though it was especially difficult on Ezekiel and Aschelaan, who had been closest to the wily Skydancer. From that point on, Ezekiel altered his signature mark that he stamped all his maps with to incorporate Ambrym's mark melded with his own; a tribute to his fallen mentor. He even recovered an old map of the Ashanimus territory, one of Ambrym's finest works, framed it, and sent it as a gift to the Ashanimus dragons.
