While born under the arid desert of the Shifting Expanse, Maturin was not where he wanted to call home. The cooling breezes of the Windswept Plateau were much more to his liking even if the journey was long for a small fae. There wasn't so much sand to scratch up his glasses and his old parchments wear much slower outside of the heat. And random lightning bolts. And exploding "scientific" experiments. On his long journey, he met up with others looking for a new home and together they formed a clan for dragons who needed a home. Maturin is now quite situated as the clan's scribe, writing up any messages to other clans or other dragons, and greeting any new dragons that come into the clan, no matter how long their stay.

Despite his parchments lasting much longer in the more amiable Plateau, that doesn't keep him from collecting more and more, just in case. He needs someplace to write down all those trades and messages! Even if there isn't a parchment at hand anything smooth can function as a nice writing surface. The only thing that will stop his writing would be his major weakness--without his glasses he is, in fact, quite blind.
