______ Born into Sornieth from a single egg nest, Caesar knew exactly what loneliness and suffering was from his youngest days. His mother, a small and fragile Imperial, tried her best to provide for the shimmering hatchling she had brought into this world. Unfortunately her love would be short lived for Caesar as his own father would attempt to kill the hatchling, only to have his life spared by the heroic sacrifice of his own mother. Caesar would flee the clan as the echoes of his mother’s anguished howls filled his ears. The memories of that encounter have long since faded, residing only in his darkest dreams, but the scar he received from that fateful day will forever tarnish his shimmering black scales.

______ How the young Imperial survived with no parentage, alone in the wilderness, is up to question. Yet by the time he was a strapping and grown dragon Caesar had a taste for blood. He would fight everything and everyone who dared cross him in any way, sometimes even choosing his opponents for seemingly no reason at all. The anger of his neglected hatchling-hood fed into his desire to inflict pain on others, but as he aged he found himself feeling unsatisfied with the way he lived his life.

______ Unfortunately Caesar would not realize the true desire that lurked in his heart until he was put in place. Fate would cause Caesar to cross paths with one of the most formidable opponents; a Guardian protecting its charge. Something inside of him chose that fight to end his miserable existence, relying on the angered Guardian to finish him off. Yet it would not work this way. Severely injured and barely conscious, the battered dragon would drag himself to the roaring sound of a waterfall. Finding the beautifully clear water, Caesar laid himself down in the shallows and let the cool water wash over his oozing wounds. As his eyes fluttered shut and he breathed what he was sure was his last breath, a pink fluttering figure would appear at his head.

______ When he awoke he found his body had been bandaged and his broken hind leg had been splinted. Somehow a rock had been placed beneath his head to ensure he could not drown. Looking around, Caesar would find that the pink flutter he had saw was actually a spritely and friendly Fae named Zazi. As Caesar healed he began adventuring around the falls he had stumbled upon. The area was warm and comforting, well hidden and flourishing with life. Behind the mesmerizing red waterfall was a deep cave system that had clearly been carved out by dragons before. Learning that this system was abandoned, he took up residency, and offered for the Fae who saved his life to remain there as well.

______ As the years have gone by Caesar has aged and grown docile, his devotion to the lair and its residents proving to be the true purpose and desire for the orphaned Imperial. His lovers are few and far between, but he is proud of the children he has given life to as many now serve at the feet of the Gladekeeper.
