Biography
Maelon
Guard Captain
Maelon was cursed from childhood. He was born slow, his body seemed unwilling to move even when his own life was in danger. While his father, Tyranus, was originally overjoyed at how his hatchling looked remarkably similar to him, the parents quickly feared for the youngling's life. They saw many doctors, begging for answers as to why their hatchling wouldn't move and slept constantly. They were met with nothing. When Maelon was a year old, his parents having long accepted that their child would either live or die, and now turned their attention to their newer hatchling, Squeakers, he began to grow rapidly. Maelon's height and weight exploded, leaving him easily three times the size of other gaolers his age. Giske and Tyranus were far more confused now, but most of their worries had faded when their son was large enough to defend himself. A week after his growth spurt, Maelon began to move. His joints were creaky. He had lost all stealth and instead lumbered around, knocking into pottery and bowling over everything in his way. Maelon was a gentle, quiet soul. Many were too frightened by his appearance to learn that, though. Maelon rarely spoke and his parents sent him out on his own at the age of three, far younger than most. Still, Maelon knew he hated one thing, his home, the Icewarden's domain. He felt some connection to nature, despite his parents denying his questions.
He journeyed to the Gladekeeper's domain and was quickly shunned from every village he ventured into. Maelon was distraught and found comfort in the jungle, fully allowing the foliage to grow through his thick, damp fur. He watched the world from the Shrieking Wilds and became wise throughout the years, sharpening his mind as it had fallen behind the prestige of his body. He, years later, sought out community and located Miran. The gaoler was briskly accepted into the den and found his way into leading the guards. Many saw his careful but protective nature as a valuable skill to lead others. While he did not understand Alba's situation completely, he tried to befriend her. His blunt nature slowed down any progress between the two of them. One night, an exhausted Maelon was horribly alone and wanted company from another of his own kind. He shared his whole life story with Alba, and apologized for his issues with emotion. The two quickly fell in love afterward.
Maelon seems blunt to most, he doesn't add emotion to his voice and can upset some. He is very goal-oriented and will set on every mission with fervor. He is respectful but honest. He struggles with connecting to others.
