Biography

77011764.png
--- (---)
Status: Resident
Joined the clan as a hatchling Tundra.

They called her a fool.

The fuzzy little sparkling was something else. Carefree, bold, and enough curiosity to put the clan's entire collection of feline familiars in danger, to say this Tundra was a handful would be a grave understatement.

Her clanmates never quite knew what to do with her; she would get into all kinds of trouble if left alone. Her sense of danger was nonexistant, and her longing for adventure rivaled the zeal of a Guardian setting out on The Search.
So the adults would, just to keep her busy and supervised, bring her along with them on their errands across Sornieth...

Or that's how it was supposed to go, anyway. The summer that her clanmates brought her to the Shadow lands turned out to be the adventure she never wanted.

...

An instant; That's what it had been.
Faster than the time it took her to slip away from the trade meeting unseen and make her way back to that interesting place she'd seen when her party flew in.

Just the lightest touch and the strange object in the gnarled tree flashed a deep purple.. something. She staggered back, flinching away. The flash wasn't bright, but it'd resulted in a weird burning sensation.

When she opened her eyes, the sight made her fur bristle.
The old trees of the Shadow territory forest that had surrounded her were gone; replaced by a thick bramble that seemed to reach into the sky itself, obscured and choked by a purpley mist that permeated everything. Where was she?

A place she shouldn't be, clearly.

Frightened of this unexpected turn, she scrambled out from under the brambles, their dark thorns scratching at her scales as she searched for a way out. Soon, a kaleidoscope of colours greeted her from between the thorny vines, and as she squeezed herself out through the gap, the forest came into view.

But to her disbelief, it looked as if someone had taken the Shadow territory apart and pieced it back together again in the wrong order. A landscape of familiar, yet alien shapes.

How is this possible? Is someone from that Shadow clan playing a trick on me...??

Adventuring in the shadow lands was now a decidedly unfun kind of adventure. Her fur was already crackling with charge - an embarrassing display of uncontrolled magic that only happened when she was really excited, or really scared. With a flurry of soft crackling, she launched into the air and hurried up and up to pass the tower of bramble.

It was difficult to see in the purple mist, but she knew her clan members had to be somewhere close by... though, the sea of bramble seemed to stretch on for an impossibly long way ahead.
Determined to get away from this strange place, she flapped furiously, zigzagging in and out of the bramble vines that filled the sky, defying all gravity.

...

The longer she flew, the more she suspected that she was actually going nowhere at all. It almost felt like the misty air itself that clung to her was holding her back...

A sudden snag.
Her speed dropped sharply, and she tumbled through the air, striking something with her left wing and losing her bearings for a few precarious moments before finding herself once more and flapping furiously against a pulling force that clawed at her body. Her scales tingled at the invisible contact, the misty grip burning like wild fire magic.

A quick glance revealed that her left foot and tail were enveloped in a thick, shimmery mist. It swirled and compressed, pulling heavily on her. She flapped even harder against this new attack, sparks from her fur now arcing into the air as a sense of panic crept over her. It's trying to drag me back down there!

In pure reaction, the frightened dragon shot straight upwards, her only goal to escape and nothing more. A trail of sparks surged from her body as she flew.

*CRACK*

Suddenly, a flash of coloured light broke out across the sky and the purple mist had cleared. The brambles, too, were gone, melting away to reveal the trees of the Shadow territory.
Exhausted from her ordeal, she made an immediate landing.
It'd felt like she'd flown fast enough to clear half the territory, so only Stormcatcher knows if she's anywhere close to the meeting site her clanmates were probably still conducting their boring trade meet at.

No, boring would be fine right now.

The landing was a little rougher than she meant to make it - she'd never demanded so much of her wings before. As she lay on the grass, a wave of sleepiness washed over her. Maybe she'd used too much magic, too? She was inexperienced little sparkling, after all. As embarrassing as it was to admit, she didn't have great control over her magic's intensity...

...

When she next awoke, the moon was glowing softly in the night sky of the Tangled Wood.
Her clan mates had definitely noticed her absence by now. They were probably looking for her. She was going to be in so much trouble...

She got to her feet, and pressed onward towards the guiding constellation. Her unintended nap had given her sore wings some time to calm down, but she wanted to save flight for an emergency encounter with anything that might leap out from the shadows.

She smiled up at the clouds that hugged at the moon, and they swirled joyfully, smiling back at her. The Tangled Wood was one of the trickiest places to navigate, especially at night, but the blue glow of the enormous native shrooms lit the purple cobblestone path beautifully, and the twisted ashen pines offered a calming scent as they closed in all around her, like a protective nest. Even though the Shadow territory was dark and eerie, it felt comforting to be back in the real world...

However...

She was a fool.
