Ash

- Ash won't talk about what happened to her...
- she won't talk at all
- purely silent, the veilspun dwells in the darkness of the Penumbral River, near the dungeon
- to repay Vesper and Cypress for letting her stay, she sets out poisons for the pests of the Twisted Reach as well as traps for insects
- the only one who knows her story is Cloud; who caught her drawing it out on some paper (she's an artist and expresses her emotions through her drawings)
- Cloud asked questions and eventually got her story, which he promised to never tell
- Ash had fallen in love with a male veilspun named Ardor, and their arranged marriage (she came from a noble family) had grown ugly and tense, so much so that he began to despise her
- one day, while they were doing a public appearance, Ardor blew up at Ash
- it was a disgrace to his family, and they blamed the veilspun; they imprisoned her in their dungeons below their factory, keeping her there and telling the world the noble had died and Ardor was in grief
- over time, things only got worse for Ash in the prison
- eventually, she was able to break out during a failure in the forge above, and Ash escaped, but she was not unscathed; on her way out, she was badly burned
- Ash collapsed in the Tangled Wood, unable to flee any further; it was Maxx who found her and brought her back to be healed by Calypso
