The great city stands before you as you wonder through a void of darkness. There is no light beyond these walls, and so you clamor your way to the gates, your mind pleading for luminaries. However you are stopped when approaching the grand wall. Her entrance is sealed, and at either side are two large beings that would send terror into the hearts of even the bravest. They lumber over the very walls, which extend past the tallest trees.

The two creatures, you suppose, are statues until you approach closer. They awaken, and their wing beats mimic the sound of shattering thunder. You feel judgement upon you as they gaze down, and suddenly frailty is your only friend. These creatures guard this city, yet something is terribly odd about them.

Legends say that the rulers of this grand city sought to harness the very powers of both sun and moon. And so in their hubris, borrowing from pagan mythos, created these creatures to pierce the heavens and drink of their powers. In the beginning, their scheme worked, allowing them to manipulate these cosmic bodies at their will to subdue the people. But these beings were not pleased to watch as they caused untold suffering to other creatures. Rebelling against their creators, each one consumed both sun and moon, plunging the world into darkness. Infuriated by this act, the two were punished- chained to the gates where they would only be used as mere tools to light the way into the hellscape of metal and neon.

As you pass through the now opened gates into the halogen paradise, you could almost hear their voices… turn back.
