Lore by BringItDown, show them some love.
It was an unfortunate day for a traveling Fae.
A struggling researcher from the Tourmaline Archives, they had been cutting through Plague territory to deliver a report directly to the Dusk Sanctum, when they fell fifty feet directly into the Wyrmwound.
Whether it had been from exhaustion or being unable to handle the heat and dryness of the Scarred Wasteland, it had inevitably spelled their doom - especially when they had dropped right into an emerging Aberration, who stumbled into the shallow ends of the pulsating goo.
Aberrations are inherently more resistant to the toxins and wrath of the indistinguishable liquid. But even they can only last for so long, and when combined with a dragon who is far from used to the dangers of the Plague, it can only spell a recipe for disaster.
It was the Aberration who emerged hours later, but with everything wrong. Biles of goo and melted scales dripped off them like paint, stained purple and green, with something revolting taking form in between where its two heads were. Another tail had emerged, long and spinely, only to split into two like the one it already had. And when the Aberration roared, it had the same intensity and rage of a death wail.
Whoever this Aberration was, their identity was ultimately taken by the introduction to a third consciousness. The thing that formed in between their already existing two heads was a third, be it a much smaller and incapable one. In their attempt to deal with and adapt to the integration, the Aberration developed what is more of a sole consciousness, all heads speaking and thinking in unison.
But hints of other consciousnesses can sometimes be heard ringing through their skull, whether that be of their long-gone counterpart or the dragon that fused alongside them.
Becoming a sole figure, the Aberration decided to go by the name of “Shatter”, instead.
Shatter is a being motivated by will, who didn’t stick around its cocoon of the Wyrmwound for long. Now motivated by a fascination with evolution and magical forces itself, Shatter ultimately went out to complete what his third head could not.
Though his entire mental state has changed, Shatter still retains a strength that can outmatch even the likes of Snappers, with a size that stands alongside the likes of the average male Ridgeback. His newfound intellect has only made him stronger as well, with a thirst for knowledge that cannot be quenched. Though not malicious, Shatter clearly has his own goals in mind; which ultimately lead to him meeting the Almighty Malice.
Malice took to Shatter as one who could move mountains, while Shatter saw the Skydancer as a gateway for answers. The two engaged in multiple, analytical conversations together, which ultimately resulted in the Aberration becoming a part of the clan Malice looks after.
Shatter builds caves, clears trees, and leads teams in expansion of the territory, while Malice is willing to talk to the dragon about the world and its mysteries. Together, they benefit the other; even if it comes mostly from them using each other for their own agendas.
