She does not know her name. She does not know how she came to rest within the swamp.
All she remembers is that one day, she awakened once again, to terrorize the land where she fell.

Those who caught a glimpse called her "The Pitch": a horrible beast, old bones bound together by inky black swamp muck. She was a ghoulish creature, said to rise from the mud to take the bones of those too slow to escape and add them to the shambling mass.

Until one day, she stumbled across a Skydancer, one who showed kindness to the swamp horror: leaving flowers at the rotted wooden stake that served as both grave marker and warning. She came often, leaving flowers and kind words, the first Pitch had heard in a long, long time...

Brief visits soon became longer. They began to linger, together, both feeling so alone in the world.

But now they are alone, together.
