Lore Of Darkwater Swamp
Long since abandoned, there exists a place deep within the foxfire brambles. It is a place that leads into a secret place within the driftwood drag. Many a weary traveler who dares wander near, have whispered a tale of hearing the maddening cackles of the damned. Truth be told however, the murky swamp holds a different secret. Long ago a travelling carnival was making its way through the foxfire brambles when they attempted to try heading through a path they perceived to be as shortcut they were met with a stretch of forest that was almost too dark to see. What they could make out was the murky drooping forest trees and the faint glows of scattered mushrooms. The dark fog that surrounded them as they made their way became so thick, that they didn't even see the driftwood drag until it was too late. Their caravans began to sink into the swamp out of panic the carnival workers began crying out for help. Fortunately their desperate terrified cries were answered by a group of local dragons who rescued them from their fate at the hands of the swamp.
As they were led back to where their rescuers lived they at first were nervous debating whether these dragons were some sort of savage cannibals or not. Considering the many skulls of various creatures. The group revealed themselves to be a clan who would worship fallen dragons through the use of rituals similar to that of voodoo. The carnies began to get used to the clan and eventually learned to call the place home. Even though they longed for their natural calling. The clan elder revealed to them that his clan visits the trickmurk circus every year. The carnival's leader took many days and nights before a dream came to him. Suddenly he awoke with a way for both the clans to live together as one he announced his idea of them setting up a carnival grounds next to the lair they had grown to call home. When the group wasn't traveling and performing they'd set up their carnival and the clan surrounding it would protect it with their sorcery and possibly even participate in the festivities. An event that became known as The festival of the spirits. Many began dubbing the carnival grounds however the carnival of the dead because of it but the clan learned to accept the name with pride.
