______The vines twist. Not everyone understands how they work - certainly not here on the glacier, where plants are such a rarity, but his are bound by Nature’s vibrancy and his own deep magic, and so he wears these living plants on his skin and encourages those that weave through his flesh.

______Crows can be felled easily in their youth, after all, and that weak immune system is what makes them so vulnerable to the Blooming Grove, but he has embraced his infection just as his clutchmates did, just as his other siblings did, has used his innate magic to develop them beyond what they might be otherwise.

______His older sibling, born to Water, newly laced with Nature, chose Fire to challenge all his mixed parts. Ydran has chosen Ice, for while Fire burns it fertilises, and can bring forth something new.

______Ice freezes. For all winter turns, winter brings a torpor. It is a more persistent challenge to keep himself and his plants thriving in the face of all of that.

______The leaves beneath his skin are full. The petals that dance down his thighs try to wither in the cold, but his blood is warm and his magic is strong; he paces through the ice and wades through the snow between the comfort of his home and the sweltering warmth of the greenhouse. There, the flowers bloom beneath his skin, vines lending strength to his muscles: in his greenhouse he is king, and it is no wonder he can supply Tofu such a seemingly-unending source of food. Here, where he thrives and his plants do, he can make anything grow, make anything reach the fruit of its life before he harvests it.

______Outside the cold causes torpor and kills. He, magic lacing his blood and his plants, however, he can withstand it, will always withstand it, can grow food for eating and flowers for wooing, can give his plants a haven in his own flesh and the shelter he builds for them.

______Others find it eerie, the way his wood guards him, even touched by frost.

______Of course they guard him. He gives them life.

______Hydrangea, or Ydran as he most times goes by, makes his living within the Greenglobe. A blooming crow with control over flora, both within his skin and out, he carries an innate skill with raising and cultivating plants of many kinds. When he's not in the Greenglobe, he's in Tofu (his girlfriend)'s restaurant.
