oona keeps her heart in a jar. that's all there is to be said about it.

her parents are not good people, and when she was hatched with a brain in her head and her own wits, they left her to the wastes. oh, the heartbreak - even barely an hour old, she knew that parents should love their children.

the waste does not love it's children, either.

by the time she found shelter, by the time she could lay down and grieve, it was too much. she cuts out her own heart and puts it in a jar, just so it will stop hurting. the plaguebringer pitied her so much that she let her keep on living.

away from her feelings, oona could look at any wound or any disease and only logically think her way through it, free from the empathy that would have clouded it. she is a stunning medic, with excellent bedside manner, but her disconnect from blood and gore is often a little unsettling.

that, and her still beating heart, often sitting on a shelf wherever she has set up her clinic.

the nomadic lifestyle of the wasteland medic is wearing on her, though, and the thought that her parents may still be making scars around the boneyard is hard on her. she would like to settle down, she thinks, somewhere where she could heal others as well as herself.
