THE LORE OF TEUCER THE MINDLESS SNAKE

Teucer is a spy-assassin for the new Sethi Branch of Chernogorsk Battle Forces along with Hilde. His first mission -the one where Hilde went m.i.a.- was a disaster and nobody would want to sponsor any jobs for the lone Sethi Branch member in a long while. Teucer was put back on training and while being reminded that not everything could be what they seemed, Teucer actually did believe that his very first mission was a fail. He took the loss of his intended assassin partner pretty roughly and he was made an example at the training grounds. "This is what will happen if you fail. You'll be reverted back to the school bench. So don't fail." The teachers would say and try to sympathize with Teucer. He hated them. This was Hilde they were pitying. She did not need anyone’s pity. Not then and not even now.

There was one thing that nobody really knew about the mission; the requester had actually WANTED Hilde out of the game and set it up so that the boss would know about Hilde and Teucer. Teucer was supposed to be just a collateral if he'd get in the way, which didn't happen because he stayed put where he'd been hiding. So -in reality- the mission was a success and now the Sethi Branch was out of the game. Little by little, when Teucer realised this, he began to blame Hilde for his current state of life. If Hilde hadn't been the target, Teucer would probably still be in the Branch, doing what he was supposed to. If Teucer ever saw her again -which was not possible, she was dead (or so Teucer kept drilling into his head, it was easier that way)- he'd find a way to retaliate.

When all was said and done and the months had gone by, Teucer found that Hilde had become, not a passing memory of hatred or a one of friendship and betrayal, but a feeling of numbness and loss. He'd see her in everything he did; training within the school grounds (he'd trained with her the first time, Hilde as his teacher and future partner), lunch breaks (they'd eaten together), in all the day-to-day activities they had done together over the years. And when he'd finally completed his re-training and got his position back (after telling the right dragons about the Branch’s false dispatch); he'd think about her then too (as she had been at every single graduation he'd had up to that point). Then -and only then- he realised that Hilde really was never coming back. Teucer would silently cry for her in the following night.
