______ Ciarran is a spirit alien to the world of Sornieth. She comes from a planet named Ea, a world of bright colors and crystalline forests, where her people flourished and thrived for a thousand years. But all things must come to an end, and the story of Ciarran’s people was no different.

______ Ea’s civilizations were formed of many different factions of Sunwili, a small, pinkish humanoid species not much bigger than Mirror. These nations, like the flights of Sornieth, each had their own rulers, structure, and beliefs. And like the dragons of this world, they had their artisans, monuments, and achievements, as well as their disagreements, alliances, and wars.

______ Wars that would, in fact, end them. Tensions had escalated in recent years, embroiling the world of Ea in ceaseless conflict between the nations. The Sunwili’s reasons for fighting were myriad and varied: anything from seeking to unite the world under one banner to wishing to eradicate the beliefs of another and more. You name it, and they were fighting for or because of it. These conflicts had escalated in recent years, to the point where the blood of countless Sunwili was constantly staining the land a coppery green. Factions hated factions, peoples hated peoples, and the planet endured ceaseless strife. Ceaseless, until the fateful day where all conflict came to an end.

______ Each and every nation had weapons of mass destruction, conceptualized by magical scientists and built to vaporize an entire city in the arcane blast, leaving not a single living being behind. These were deterrents, only meant to keep the others from ending them, or so they said. It would be madness, everyone knew, for even one nation to launch these creations: everyone else would retaliate, and the world would end in magic. No one could possibly be stupid enough to risk world annihilation, or so they thought. But a single nation, pushed back to the brink, its leaders standing on the cusp of being deposed, did the unthinkable. They launched their missiles, and the rest of the world, entangled in alliances and enmity as they were, responded in kind.

______ Architectural beauty that had stood the test of time crumbled and disintegrated under the brilliant glow; screams were cut off as Sunwili were vaporized in an instant, leaving naught but shadows behind. And when the blasts of pinkish light finally died down, there was naught but silence in their wake. Silence, in a land blanketed in a layer of residual arcane energies - energies that soon proved to have a side effect none had ever anticipated. Ghosts of those who had been vaporized rose from where their bodies had once stood; spirits frightened, confused, and horrified, unintentionally bound to this world thanks to the very same arcane energies that had destroyed them. A final monument to their people: an endless, moaning dirge of the vengeful and the afraid, wandering the broken land in an eternal lament of what had been lost.

______ Ciarran was one such spirit. She wandered, as confused and broken as the rest, across the surface of the devastated planet. Looking for friends, family, anything familiar in this strange and foreign world. Looking for hope amidst the desolation, even as she saw the arcane spirits of her brethren tear each other apart in their grief and rage, losing more and more of themselves as they succumbed to mindless rage. Such an inevitable decay of the arcane energies bolstering their spirits was the fate held in store for them all, until the day the Forbidden Portal fractured the fabric of space-time just enough for a single enterprising soul to slip through. Curious at the sudden disruption to the tedium of endless horror, Ciarran peeked through, spotting a vibrant world full of life. Rejoicing, she stepped through, reveling in the sights and sounds of a world still living.

______ She would soon learn that this world belonged not to Sunwili, but to dragons. It was almost natural, Ciaran found, for her form to take on their own, the arcane energies bolstering her spirit wrapping her in skin and scale, until outwardly she appeared as any other. The newly draconic entity would soon run into Tamua, who took one look at the clearly shell-shocked Ciarran and dragged her back to the Thornspeakers. There, Ciarran has thrived, drinking deep of knowledge freely given of this brand new world she found herself in.

______ The not-Obelisk has been perfectly content to remain in the Everdark Jungle; she wasn’t used to being cloaked in skin and scales after so long as a pure arcane entity, and is easily overwhelmed by excess sensation - ironic, given her own touch-starved state. Something her friends are trying to desensitize her to. Even still, she prefers to spend her time with her clan, sharing stories of her broken, beautiful world, and fulfill a long-held childhood dream she had long resigned as an impossibility until now: flight.
