A run of the mill Vendevice Buttonman. The big boys of the Vendevice, Buttonmen are high ranked members who control groups of Toadies. Wearing white pinstriped suits and fedoras, they're rough, tough, and show no mercy towards any targets. In general, Buttonmen are expected to give out missions to Toadies, and to keep an eye on the Toadies inside their assigned area- just to make sure these lowly rats don't make off with any of the money, weapons, or other contraband meant for the Vendevice. Some Buttonmen have small teams that they trust more than other Toadies, and are, in general also more loyal, but this isn't always the case, and a lot of them simply rule by instilling fear in those below them. While the positions for Buttonmen are limited, one can still attain the position with enough effort. Proving your loyalty to the Vendevice with money is a tried and true method- but we're talking about a lot of money, here. A measly 100k gems isn't enough to secure your spot, you're expected to rake in many, many millions before the position is offered. However, if a Buttonman happens to die, and you just so happen to bring in a good haul that month, you may just get lucky. This does, however, mean that Buttonmen almost always have a target on their back from Toadies, even if most aren't going to act on it. If you're found out trying to kill one, you're going to sleep with the fishes, either way. In general, the richer a Buttonman is, the closer they are to Ira. Layne is an absurdly rich dragon, even for a Buttonman, and as such, is one of Ira's more trusted men. Never fully trusted, of course- can't trust anyone in this line of work, but very close. Luckily, Layne isn't thinking of betraying Ira any time soon; he's got a cozy position, a bunch of lackeys that he can boss around, and more money than he knows what to do with! He owns a lavish mansion in the middle of Central City that's connected to a casino that he commands- which is rigged to hell and back, but nobody has to know that. | xxxxx |
