Rosetta was born in Beta's old home in the Shifting Expanse, the single surviving hatchling of a clutch born from the union of a Tundra and Skydancer on opposite sides of the war for dominance. When the couple was discovered by their comrade in the armies of Light and Shadow, they were attacked and left for dead in enemy territory. The heavily wounded dragons carried their eggs for as far as they were able before they were found by Beta's scientists. The parents didn't make it, but Rosetta was saved from her unstable condition by the medical attention of the clan.

When Rosetta grew up, stories about the demise of her parents led her to disdain the petty conflict between the elemental Flights, and Beta's Acquisition Division soon found that her aversion to conflict made her an excellent diplomat. She agreed to the position under the condition that she never be asked to negotiate with the Flights of Shadow or Light, as she has no way to know who among them are her parents killers.

They reached a compromise: Rosetta would serve as Beta's main ambassador to the Beastclans, a group she sympathized with as victims of thoughtless draconic warfare. Rosetta takes her peacekeeping responsibilities quite seriously, and dedicates herself to understanding the nuances of each Beastclan culture; quite a complicated endeavor.
