- crafts lanterns in partnership with Brightshine from the Firefly Clan. Nyss is responsible for igniting the lanterns that Brightshine creates. she does so by crafting candles from the leftover beeswax in the Honeyglow Hive, and lighting it with her fiery breath.
- one of the princesses of the Shadowborne, and is set to inherit Omisha's throne after Aralyn, but she doesn't want it. she's more than happy to allow them to pick another successor.
- though she doesn't participate in the politics of flight relations the same way her parents do, Nyss's connection with the Firefly clan has helped Torval a lot in maintaining positive relations with other Light clans.
