Story section here. Some extra text here to push everything into place, because that right column needs it. He has a lot of lore potential, some of the most among all of my dragons. I'll need to cover background, meeting Gloandi, forming and building up the clan, when he adopted Rose, when his family became assassins, any significant or noteworthy events, when his family was exiled, and finally where they are now. |

"I didn't say to stop searching, but if you're worried, don't be. If they're anything like you, they'll be fine." - Leronde
"For a friend with an understanding heart is worth no less than a brother." - Homer (Suits Leronde's viewpoints, though)
"For a friend with an understanding heart is worth no less than a brother." - Homer (Suits Leronde's viewpoints, though)
Some lore potential:
- One of Leronde's daughters is an assassin, so it's possible that the whole family are assassins. Leronde himself wouldn't be, since he's the captain of the knights and he can't really double-duty this. Nonetheless, he'd know about and advocate it. Plus he'd do what he could as knight captain to shield them from incriminating evidence.
Eventually, Rose (and the rest if they're assassins) is going to get caught; Gloandi's going to realize that Leronde was permitting assassinations, and she's going to be really hurt by it. Gloandi is Leronde's best friend, always defending him from slander, and always choosing to believe in him, so the fact that he was not only keeping such huge secrets from her, but allowing something she's vehemently against, is going to make her feel betrayed.
The assassins will likely be exiled, and the non-assassins in the family may choose to follow anyway. Leronde, at least, would get a choice since he's not an assassin, he's a great asset to the clan, and Gloandi really doesn't want things to end between them this way. Leronde, however, would choose to leave.
Likely the family will move to the Scarred Wasteland; Leronde is from there, so they'd feel comfortable doing so. If Gloandi chooses their exit point, she will likely pick it as well as a mercy towards Leronde. Unless she's just that mad, then she will be petty and eject them into the Ashfall Waste or something.
Looking over the regions, the Scarred Wasteland might not be ideal for them; it's pretty hardcore and lethal to even Plague dragons, so I'm not sure if his non-Plague family, plus Rose who's Nature of all things, could survive well. If they go for it, they'd probably settle at the Seedscar; the area where the First Seed was planted. There isn't much there aside from a large, dead tree, but Plague magi are tasked with keeping the remaining Nature magic at bay; perhaps the family can harness some of that Nature magic to make their new home more comfortable? SnowWhite would certainly love a garden and less dreary home, and Rose might feel better with it, as well. (Going from a list of canon FR lore, Rose is probably the only one who can manipulate the magic of the First Seed to their benefit due to her element; others wouldn't be nearly as effective, unless I just said that their ineptitude was just bolstered by it so much that it's okay that they suck at it; Plague dragons cannot manipulate it due to it being the opposition of their inner magic)
Aside from that, the Millmeadows are on the opposite side of the Plateau; meaning it might be better if they just ejected them out the nearest exit, which would be Fire territory. If they go into Fire, they'll likely end up in the Cinderslag to stay or just for a while. It's basically a ramshackle town that gives me cowboy AU vibes where the top dragons push the lower ones to churn out tools, armor, and weapons for war against that rebellion group. Seems like a good place to start their divergent story.
Also, next to where they'd pass into Fire is the Churnscar Wharf in Water. It's a port town that has a large hand in trades. - Following up: what happens to Leronde's group after that? I can either have them serve as their own sub-group, or start/join a small clan. As a sub-group, they can work as travelers, barkeepers, innkeepers, etc. with assassinations on the side. They're basically their own contained plot. Joining or forming a small clan would require me to expand their group; who the leader is, plus new members, and write their lore away from Wind territories.
- Regarding them and a clan, I'm not sure they could really start one. Leronde does not want to be leader, Owen is better as a secretary/assistant, Olivia isn't leader material, and Rose would make a good leader but wouldn't want to run an entire clan unless she literally had to. It's possible for Snowdrop, Oliver/SnowWhite, and Princess to lead, though.
Thinking this through, they could totally start one. lol A number of them are valuable members of Windor that have good skills for beginning anew. Princess is pretty leader-material, though I could be stereotyping, while Owen is great at organization, Olivia is an ambassador and great with foreign relations, Rose and Snowdrop are top-notch scavengers, and Leronde is the former captain of the knights. If they don't want to start their own clan, they at least have the skills to maintain themselves until they find one.
Some notes for his family, if some of them are assassins:
- Leronde (not an assassin, exiles himself)
- Snowdrop (assassin, exiled)
- Owen/Puck (unsure, exiled/exiles himself) (probably should be an assassin, otherwise it's only the girls, haha) He probably is to an extent regardless, because he's actually in a really good secretarial position to aid them.
- Princess (assassin, exiled)
- Oliver (not assassin, exiles himself)
- SnowWhite (not assassin, exiles herself)
- Olivia (assassin, exiled)
- Rose (assassin leader, exiled)
- Xion (not assassin, not exiled)
- I like how this does set off a convenient chain of events for storytelling: this explains why Aqua becomes knight captain, and this could explain why Laura is the archivist, though I usually call Owen a secretary.
