Scaalen; The Abyssal Tides

Temperament: Steadfast, wisened, protective.

The great Scaalen of The Abyss. An immigrant from the shores unto the mysterious twisted trees of the Tangled Wood. Born close enough to land to hail the call of The Shadowbinder, he saw through the sea unto the dark skies as if it was the abyss itself. He thought he blended in well enough with his twisting beard and royal wings, but it was clear through his ties to the deep and his sheer weight that the land treated him as a foolish young wandering hatchling, cold and lost, through the kelp.
Yet, despite his early troubles came late triumphs. He's settled himself down deep within the Driftwood Drag not far set from his early beginnings, where he sought his reign to begin...though twas in his head at first...his reign will begin.

Alpha of The Blue Moon:
Scaalen is the founder of both the Blue Moon Sector and the clan itself, following in the footsteps of both water and shadow he has heavy respect for the powers of darkness, the moon, and the ocean and he instilled those values into his children and clan-mates.
The Blue Moon Sector runs the clan as an almost executive position, with all descisions going through the Blue Moon Sector for final say and most historical documents being held with them. Their biggest competitor for leadership is the massive Twilight Sector, which has the most powerful shadow dragons and dragons who do not have as much venerable respect for the moon as other clans do. However, thanks to Scaalen being close friends with the true alpha of Twilight, Erydan, not much conflict occurs other than clan member gossip.
That cannot be said for the civil war leader in the Twilight Sector, The self proclaimed "Heir of Shadows" Inkrake, who wishes to take over the entire clan and envelope the world in shadow. Scaalen makes sure that his oldest daughter Farsight keeps a close eye on Inkrake, but as a consequence his daughter has Inkrake's constant attention and Scaalen wishes he could help her more than he can.
Scaalen has a clan to run, and sectors to manage. He has done the best job he can so far and has a successful lineage, he prays that shadows will not take over his mind, as his pride in the Wispwillows may end up being his downfall.

Mate: Rosea
Scaalen met Rosea the way any Tundra would introduce themselves to others. "You smell like ten friends." Rosea once said. Even though Scaalen was perplexed with this greeting, he accepted her wandering around with him in the dangerous Twisting Wood. Scaalen described their relationship like the ebb and flow of the tides, and upon being taken to the shores of Driftwood Drag, the two spent their time talking and Rosea was quite pressing with her questions. Scaalen questioned this until he realized she was courting him. Odd for another breed of dragon, nonetheless touching.
Near the sea, Rosea found the coolness of the water and the Driftwood calming. Deep near the shore as they swam away from the rising tide, they sat on the beached logs twiddling with manes and beards under the moon, they decided to remain together as a pair and start a clan in the Driftwood, where their reign did eventually begin.

All guardians need a Charge, and although Rosea became his mate he wasn't her soul protector. It was only when searching for shells and wood on the beach that he found something helpless and dying. A half drowned nocturne, abandoned by his parents for his ghastly markings and pure black hide.
After resuscitating the hatchling, it cried out for anyone to come to its aid, and clung to the Gaurdian's leg for comfort...and Scaalen felt it. The Search was over, the tides had brought him a charge.

Main Familiar: Azurin the Duskflapper.
Playful and always flapping above the water where his master swims. Steaming him dry in the late hours of rest.
