Pupil

In the midst of lands filled with fog and mist - a will began to writhe within. It wriggled and squrimed, growing over the course of time until a being manifested itself from it. A figure born out of its own determination to live. Its formation took days - slowing forming its body and limbs made out of gas and self-made magic. And after months of struggle, it succeeded. All beasts present stared at it in awe. And thus, The Wonder, as it was called, was born.



For many years, The Wonder travelled the lands of Sornieth, in awe of the beautiful world around him. He learned every bit of history he could, he learned all about the wonderful creatures that live - no stone was left unturned. Despite its fascination, it has always felt like an outsider. Always a spectator, always isolated.

But soon, during his research, he discovered someone just like him. Someone just as curious about the place they were placed on. That, of course, was the Arcanist.

However, the Arcanist also felt out of reach. Madeinto history, much like the wyrms before him, a deity, someone much higher than him in the hierarchy of life. That only meant that the Wonder merely could carry on the legacy it imagines that it is its burden and not repeat the same mistakes he once did.
And it won't be alone like before.

The Wonder travelled back to the lands of Starfall Isles, now more eccentric than ever. It knew about Flights, about the clans and their culture - but once again, he never quite participated in it. He didn't know the process of even how a dragonborn was even made. So, it returned to what it considered it did best and willed life into existence with its own, two hands.

So were born the first dragonborns of the clan, Pupil and Butter.



Pupil was the first one of the two. The Adam of Adam and Eve. Born a fae, its body was small and fragile - it was imperfect, but The Wonder was happy with it. Pupil was The Wonder's student, just as curious as him - but more casual about it. It didn't take it as seriously as The Wonder did. It never considered itself a historian, just a dragon that was interested in history.

Only two dragons were especially close to Pupil much more than anyone else: Butter, its partner, and Orb, its best friend. The three were inseperable, so much so that other people never saw them each on their own, just all three at once. They would often frolick around the islands and fight other beings on it, getting stronger together each day, despite its brittle physique. And Pupil had grown accustomed to this lifestyle for a long period of time.

Nevertheless, as days went by, the clan grew larger. Pupil had by then taken a different role, it was more like a right-hand man; the second in command. If anyone had a complaint, they'd bring it to it first, and then it would bring it up to The Wonder. Soon enough, the responsibility, work and time put into this role began to overwhelm Pupil and took away all the time it had for its friends and itself from it.
So it brought it up to The Wonder, and they had an agreement. Instead of only The Wonder making decisions or Pupil being the representative of the entire clan, they would have weekly-ish meetings to discuss issues within the clan. No major infighting has occured largely thanks to this.

Unfortunately, tragedy sunk its teeth into Pupil's flesh. After a difficult battle, it has taken too much damage, its bones have been broken too much in its body. It was certain that death is coming, like an unstoppable march towards it. It layed motionless, sick, for days. Many clan members visited it, expressing their condolance to it, leaving a few trinkets behind as final gifts. Butter and Orb refused to leave its side during this.

At its weakest, The Wonder visited it. He told it that he can heal its wounds, but at a certain cost. Pupil begged him to reveal it.

"Anything- anything would be better than this...!", it cried.
And so, The Wonder responded.
"The process is simple, but may be... a bit painful, I think", he pulled out an object, still hidden in his hands, "It- it is a breed change. It will heal your wounds, but it will change your appearance. Permanently. Are you willing to take this risk?"
Pupil merely nodded in response. And with that, the process begun.

Its body contorted, was twisted into shapes not possible before - until the final end result healed it of all its previous wounds and became unrecognizable to it. It has become an Aberration.

Since then, it has relearned how to walk and fly, still a bit clumsy in its much larger body. The world has been opened to it in a new lens. Things that seemed so large, so intimidating before were much smaller. And it could overcome them.
The clan did not recognize it after this massive change, but they learned it was still the Pupil they knew and love. Still as playful, still as curious. The breed change still didn't change who it was at its core.
It can still be found frolicking with its friends on a meadow, just a bit bigger than before.
