Her beauty had only been shadowed by her intelligence. That was what had drawn Adam to the broodmother of the Forgotten lands. A courier for the King, he found himself short of breath when faced with the imposing and beautiful Eve on his daily deliveries. It was when his affection was discovered by Sigyn, Eve's sister that he was cast out. There was no place for a courier to love a royal.

Forlorn and lost, Adam withered in the outskirts, watching from afar as he scavenged for his next meal. It was one cool winter's night, the crunch of snow above the quarantine zone brought him from his den. Standing among the blustering flakes was Eve herself, hide dusted with ice and a cloak of feathers hanging across her back. A mask covered her face, and as she approached, the wisp of incense he often burned enveloped their scent. She had come to him, as he had always come to her, for separating two souls entwined could fracture the stability of the universe.
