Ruin was from the first clutch that Alseuosmia brought back to the clan with him. While her brother was more shy and nervous about all these new dragons and would have prefered to go back to his mother, Ruin was more eager to start making friends. While her father tried to help her steer clear of ones he thought would have a bad influence on his children, this didn't stop her from spending time with Spitz, and as a result the older spiral's hyperactivity has rubbed off on her. She isn't nearly as scatterbrained as him, but it's all but impossible to get her to sit still for any length of time.

She insisted on being called Ruin after one of Crow's field trips to the Sunbeam ruins, and she fell in love with the architectural remains. Fascinated by both their looks and their history, she has made it her personal hobby to explore as many as she can find all over the world. Since their interests at least partially overlap, she has spent a lot of time with Karin, and they're usually off exploring together, alternating between whether they stay aboveground or not (though of course it's a perfect trip when they find remains of ancient civilizations down in caverns).

Ganna was another of the clan's older members that she would find herself drawn to as a hatchling. She found the pearl catcher's calm, easy going personality much more soothing to be around compared to her father's more uptight nature ("Seriously, if he's so uptight about pearlcatcher's being the greatest, why does he go and mate with other breeds?"), and she would often sneak away from Odji and the other hatchlings to stay the night in Ganna's lair since she could sleep more easily there. Ganna became somewhat of a mentor to her because of this, and as a result she has turned into a scout for the part-time spymaster due to her tendency to travel often.

Flutterby followed Ruin home one day without the spiral noticing until her hungry brother made a snap at it. She chastised him before deciding to make the moth her pet mainly to annoy him, but she grew affectionate of it as time passed.

Ruin and Karin are inseperable BFFs that are frequently mistaken for mates, which amuses Ruin but makes him sheepish or sulky depending on the circumstances. They first met while out in the field (Karin had been out traveling when her father brought Ruin and her brother home with him), and instantly bonded over their love of exploration. Even though his focus was on caverns and geology, while hers were ruins and archeology, their fields of study crossed over often enough that they'll frequently be found studying a new area together.

Honestly the whole rival thing is in Tourma's head than it is Karin's, and he tends to steer clear of the Skydancer when possible. It's not his fault their familiars like each other!
