Elixir lifted the cup of tea, holding it's warmth in her hands while the steam tendrils reached out towards her face. She took a long sip and sighed, looking outside at her wonderful view of the ocean. These times were her favorite, when the sun began to rise from beneath the waters, charging a million new colors into its surface and depth as it went. The white foam would begin to reflect the yellowing sun, then deepen to orange and red as the sun rose higher. Some mornings she could see silhouettes in the waters, of dragons or fish. She wondered about those creatures out there. Did they enjoy swimming? Find peace at the bottom of the deep sea? She hoped they did. She found peace in her home. The ever-changing landscape of it never failed to amaze her as she cleared all the surfaces and they filled up again in seconds. Her desk was immaculate, at all times, being the only place besides her perch and front entrance that she regularly visited. The quills were drying, and she needs to rinse the ink off before it cemented on. But for now she decided it could wait. Working as an accountant suited her. The numbers ordered themselves neatly, making sense to her in a way it did not for other dragons. She liked the repetition of checking and rechecking. Keeping track of her clans Vault was harder, but more rewarding. She hadn't known the work before being accepted here. Seeing the shelves stocked with items, keeping track of how many gems and how much treasure flowed from the vault to the branches all over Sornieth, all of it brought her up in her mind as an important dragon. It was a nice feeling. She knew she could keep it too. She knew all the delivery dragons that carried such precious things to and fro. She admired the species more than any other for their hard work and quiet dedication. She was getting sleepy now. Without realizing, she had washed her quills and dried her papers, and now hung from her perch, in prime position. She pulled the cord hanging next to her, and the light flowed in. She closed her eyes, and went to sleep. |
