For most part of his life, Vaencair has belonged to Codex of Hyperion, an ancient assembly focused on keeping order of Absolute. He was prophecy child, whose destiny has been decided before he was born. This kind of hatchlings were called oathkeepers, because it was believed, they would make perfect soldiers, loyal future knights obedient to the Codex. At a very young age, he was placed in the care of the Hyperion brotherhood and forced to obey their strict laws. He was raised in asceticism, surrounded by cold walls of old monastery. They taught him to fight, told him what to believe in and what to think. He has watched his native tribe dies under attack of enemy nation and was forbidden to act, because due to Codex, whatever lies within laws of Absolute must be allowed to happen, no matter the cost. These events devastated him deeply, but there was no one willing to listen. Soldiers are replaceable, any sign of weakness could be the beginning of his end, Vaencair was painfully aware of that. So he hid all the hurt inside, his face became an impersonal mask, a shield protecting his true self. He has survived by a chance, or perhaps ironically, by the will of Absolute. Ran away without looking back and raced until the icy wall of the Citadel rose in front of him. Night children has offered him shelter in Sanctuary, but he was distrustful, like a wounded animal expecting to be trapped, so decided to settle on the wall. Along these years this place has grown on him, he even encouraged himself to think about it as of home. Vaencair took the role of protector of Twin Citadels and guards it's gate from trespassers.
