Biography

After killing Soliel in ritual combat, CarmineBlade declared themselves the leader of the Clanless. In true Plague dragon fashion, they made immediately clear that their reign was to be one of power and ruthlessness. They were fair enough to give their newly-acquired clanmates the choice of staying or leaving without a fight, but those who chose to stay--and those who later joined--did so knowing that CarmineBlade planned for conquest rather than peace. This choice was made mostly out of pragmatism--CarmineBlade have been around long enough to know soldiers forced to fight are far inferior to those inclined to fight. By allowing the pacifists to leave unhindered, they opened space for more violently-minded newcomers, without having to deal with dissent in their ranks.

They do, however, also just like to think they aren't the worst dragons in the world. If Soleil had admitted to their superior strength instead of challenging them like a fool (like they knew he would), they would have let him run. The way of Plague is not so much about brutality as it is survival. The least risky or energy-intensive way to proceed was the best. There's no point in picking a fight if surrender is given, and there's no point in not surrendering if the alternative is certain death.

CarmineBlade's mates, VileVenom, are more hotheaded and temperamental than CarmineBlade, but deeply devoted to them regardless.

Carmine is the head with curled horns, and tends to be more quiet and cunning. Blade, the three-eyed head, is more bloodthirsty and impulsive. They balance out well.
