Agustus

"Confounded---terrain!..." Augustus grunted with effort as he once again found himself stuck in thick Swamp murk. After a few moments of struggle, his foot came free with a shhhlup! Shaking himself, various swamp weeds and lillypads covering his body from travel shifted at the disturbance. The Snapper grimaced, setting his jaw before carefully placing one foot in front of the other, continuing his treck through the Mire.

"Now where... I know they are around here somewhere...." his green eyes scanned the surrounding area, looking for his target. "Aha!! Thought you could hide did you?" Augustus immidiately lumbered towards the warm shallows of a nearby murky pond teeming with clusters of Rotala. His front feet sunk into the muck as he stepped in, however, target found, he paid no mind as he eagerly began chomping away at his favorite food. He chewed happily, wading farther in as one clump after another dissapeared into his translucent stomach.

A flutter of wings and sudden little claws on his head, caused him quite nearly to choke on his breakfast. "Ahk!--- What in the--- oh in the name of Earthshaker---!" the big Snapper lifted narrowed gaze to the Macaw now perched upon one of his horns. "How many--- hey! How many times must I inform you, not to sneak up like that?" the Macaw squawked out an incoherent string of noises, before preening herself in indifference. "Yes well--- fine then... back to my breakfast, if you do not mind, Bird..." Augustus grunted, although more in humor than irritation, before lowering his head once more.

He trudged on, muttering an occassional exclamation of frustration at the resistance of a particularly stubborn clump of Rotala, before finally winning the battle and obtaining yet another morsel of tender shoots. The Macaw, affectionately if simply referred to as Bird, enjoyed resting her wings, promptly tucking beak in her chest feathers and snoozing from her perch.

By now, Augustus was entirely caked with Swamp muck and silt, as well as more plantlife. Worth the mess, of course. For the sake of his stomach, he would sacrifice a pristine hide any day, no questions asked.

He lifted his big head, munching thoughtfully. "Hmm... now if I could find a Sunkernel or mouthful..." his eyes narrowed, continuing his chomping as he scanned the area, in search of his next snack...
