Artifyx wants nothing more in life than to please his mother, which means working hard on every new weapons project, construction technology, or alchemical research she requests of him. When he showed an aptitude for science as a hatchling, his father Staticus took him under his wing and taught him everything he knew about the ways the world worked. His parents told him they loved each other, and perhaps they once did, but Artifyx was no fool, even as a hatchling. He watched as Lady Voltarion's drive for progress no matter the price slowly alienated her from Staticus, who was the greatest force for kindness in his life. After the accident with Fluxia, Artifyx resents his father for what he sees as Staticus choosing his moral principles over his family. Now he works himself to exhaustion every day, fueled by his love of his mother's approval and his fear of his chieftess's wrath - or worse, her disappointment.
