✴ ABOUT Maiya's trouble began before her egg shell even cracked. Her magic had been weak from the start, and as her worried parents watched in concern, every day seemed to sap away at the already little reserve of arcana that was keeping her alive. Right as her siblings began to hatch, her signature began to completely disappear. Desperate, one parent took her to a nearby shrine of the Stormcatcher while the other watched over the healthy hatchlings. Through the following day and night the parent that had taken her egg prayed, eventually falling asleep in the middle of their devoted begging. When they awoke, it was to a savage dry thunderstorm that was tearing at the scrubland around them. Cacti were ripped from the ground, trees were uprooted, bushes and grasses were buried in dust, and in the middle of it all was the shrine and Maiya's dying egg. As the awed dragon watched, the clouds converged, and a massive bolt of lightning struck the statue. As the clouds roiled and wind whipped the world, and as the static cleared, Maiya's egg cracked open.

Maiya is a driven and aggressive Ridgeback- she always has to be doing something, else she begins to feel anxious and antsy. Her tower of the Conclave is filled with different engineering projects at varying levels of completion or disassembly. She'll switch from one project to another at her own whim, but her work efficacy for each individual project never ebbs even if she leaves it for months at a time. She maintains a blunt and forthright personality and never dallies or wastes time that she could be using to work. Her entire day is scheduled down to the half hour, and she takes quiet pride in her time-oriented lifestyle. |

✴ TRIVIA • Maiya's 'veins' are irregular dragon leyline scars caused by her exceptionally violent formation- they release excessive amounts of electricity and must sometimes be properly tapped in order to safely expel her magic surges. • Maiya will only eat seafood that can be found in oases that are found in the Shifting Expanse. Her diet is expensive and rough on Clan Fortunefall's coffers, but her innate knowledge on the magic and wild energy of the Lightning Flight's territory is so invaluable as to be worth the shipping costs. • Her scales maintain the same texture as the sandstone statue of the Stormcatcher that her egg was placed in front of when her parents prayed for the deity to save her dying magic.
