Biography
Project Sugarmelon
This sweet couple likes to shower their friends in gifts and goodies. They always offer to pay when out and are always positive. They never say no to a dragon in need and will often offer their help. They should not babysit a hatchling too often as said hatchling will most likely get super spoiled by their kindness.

More melons are the FR Watermelon, real life melons and fantasy variations of these melons. Like the elemelons.
Notes on dragonfacts: Previously named Amadeus.
Someone who tried to make an FR watermelon subspecies and kind of succeeded and kind of failed at the same time. Their subspecies did get a lot of positive attention, but lore was never completed and there are a lot more optimised genes and colours for melons available nowadays. (X)
Summer 2022 project! Originally triple basic tundra. She was bought from Torinn20 for 50kt. She came along with some apparel :) My plan was to use her for breeding forth a reversed spiny melon, BUT I suddenly ran across a G1 girl with the correct colours!
Content: Subspecies lore and personal lore.
TO-DO: recoilour the banners close to reversed sm. green to grey, pink to red. Recolour the bottom notes to more pastel colours, like the original banner.
The Spiny Melons subspecies and its lore was originally created by KatzPetz. Below is a modified version because the world map has changed since the subspecies was created, and location is vital to this subspecies.
Spiny Melons | Lore
A long, long time ago, there was a region in Sornieth known as StarWind Bay, or was it WindStar Bay? No one can remember because it used to be the site of a long war between Arcane and Wind flight. In this waterway, neither the Arcanist nor the Windsinger had sovereignty more than the other, which lead to much chaos in the area and between the two flights. In an attempt to lessen the dispute, they competed annually in a Dominance Battle named The Battle of the Bay, with the winner having the bay named for their flight. “StarWind” for Arcane and “Windstar” for Wind. The battles went down in the history books as some of the greatest battles of Sorniet and are remembered by all old dragons.

A small group of bogsneak dragons inhabited this area. They were known as “Spiny Melons”. These dragons were nearly caught up in the middle of this silly feud. Not feeling compelled to choose between either flight, they decided the best course of action for their breed was to stay neutral. This decision was not hard for them, with their natural coloring being neither Arcane nor Wind but a combination of both.
The Spiny Melons chose to equally alternate breeding cycles in either their own or borrowed nests within the two flights. They did this in hopes of producing equal numbers of each, Arcane and Wind. The hope was that by equally splitting nests between both flights, neither flight would have fewer representatives than the other, thus securing their neutrality within the flights.
They taught their children the ways of both cultures. They had a natural curiosity, especially for the stars, and tended to have elaborate theories about the universe in general. They tended to also be carefree and whimsical, which gave way to wanderlust and the urge to explore more of Sornieth.
Even though they tried to keep their breed pure, a youngling would occasionally move to another flight to satisfy their adventurous side. There they became known to fall in love with local dragons and have children in the nests in the new territory. Although these offspring may have had the correct genes and colors, they could never truly be Spiny Melons. However, all hope is was not lost since they could return to either Arcane or Wind nests to produce Spiny Melon children of their own.

The Spiny Melon numbers were always small, but they always dreamed that with time they would increase in the hopes of securing their breed for many generations to come. Plague put a big bump in the road for them: during the turmoult in the land called so beautifully the Bounty of the Elements, the land shifted and the Plaguebringer brought about her perhaps greatest victory ever: she conquered the Windstar Bay and buried it below her Wandering Contagion. She swallowed the Spiny Melons' homeland, nest and eggs alike. She even covered adult dragons in her poisons. And she mutated them.
The dragons who emerged had intact memories, but their bodies had been terribly altered: their colours had switched, some of them had become another breed and if they laid their eggs laid in Arcane or Wind they immediately rotted and died. This brought great grief to the now Reversed Spiny Melons. They found little relief in the fact that them nesting in any other nest than Arcane and Wind did not create an imbalance in the populations of said flights.
They decided to spite the Plaguebringer and continue the tradition of teaching their offspring the ways of their homelands, and often find themselves as teachers or diplomats of their clans. They tend to have huge and effective networks of communication to keep together even when far apart. Reversed Spiny Melons often see themselves as part of two clans: the one where they live and their Spiny Melon family.
If one can find an original Spiny Melon, the word quickly spreads between Reversed Spiny Melons and it is greatly celebrated as a victory. Some even take it upon themselves to actively search for Spiny Melon survivors, and enlist the help of local dragons, familiars and beastclans alike. They do not discriminate a friendly hand, not even from a plagueling.

While many of their kin have been forever blocked by the Plaguebringer from nesting in arcane and wind, a few eggs still laid untouched in nests further into the homelands of the Spiny Melons. Some in arcane, some in wind. As they hatched and was recognised, they were quickly taken in by either dragons who knew their kin or their reversed berethen. As their breed had stayed neutral, many dragons saw their arrival as an omen of peace and willingly taught them the ways if the Spiny Melons. By the help of dragons of Arcane and Wind alike, the Spiny Melons survived in both numbers and culture.
Some fluke children of Spiny Melons have also begun nesting in Arcane and Wind to show their support and grow their numbers. Today the two cousin subspecies, the Spiny Melons and the Reversed Spiny Melons, keep closely in touch and frequently visit eachother like family.
Minaki was an egg in one of the nests the wandering contaigion swallowed. Although she always wanted to nest in arcane and wind, she never dared to because she had seen how other reversed spiny melons eggs just rotted away. The mutation of her and many others that made this blockage was maybe the greatest victory of the Plaguebringer of all times, and many deities were shocked at her boldness. However, her conquer was not perfect: The mutated dragons did not all come out with plague eyes, but rather with a wide variety of elements. It was as if the uprising in the power of the elements had interfered and stolen some of the children she intended for herself. It probably made her furious. For years Minaki nested in any other element but plague, but after a while she realised it might spite the great godess more if she laid her nests in plague and had her plague children despise their deity. While not all reversed spiny melons have a deep distaste for the Plaguebringer, Minaki holds a deep grudge.
