When their father passed away, Mahouji Maehara, as eldest, was offered the position as head of the "M Family." He staunchly declined and wanted nothing to do with the family business. It then defaulted to Gyojo, who, while youngest at the time, was still the second son. Gyo wanted to remain part of the family, but refused the job as head, saying he didn't want that much responsibility. Hannah was the only remaining heir, and although she was the only daughter, there was no one left to object. Their father was dead. His associates were scattered. And with the encouragement of her brothers, she took the mantle and became the new head of The M in the Plague District.

Under stress from the family for not maintaining the business standards set by her father, Hannah sought to outsource and combine services with Schwartz Industries as a Special Services Contractor. She currently resides on the S.I. Board of Directors and spends late evenings in the office doing paperwork to support the rest of her family.
