Weapons are created with an interesting quirk: the ability to exhale a cloud of insect-like creatures that they can control. They are always aware of the insect’s location and senses, making them almost like the consciousness of the swarm. This ability makes them excellent scouts. Not only that, they earn their titular name from this ability, as they can attack dragons with biting swarms.


Weapons, similar to some castes like assimilation drones and archers, have an expanded pouch located within their throat. Instead of fluid, however, the pouch contains hundreds of tiny, insect-like creatures that the weapon can exhale and control. Weapons have innate knowledge of the insect’s location and senses, enabling them to monitor and control them like a consciousness controls its drones. Weapons earn their name from the way they use this ability - most frequently, the insects have a number of painful or deadly weapons like massive mandibles or deadly venom, and are commanded to swarm and attack targets as a method of distraction until the weapon or another nearby drone dispatches them.
