Biography
“With the years his devotion to ancient things increased; so that history, genealogy, and the study of colonial architecture, furniture, and craftsmanship at length crowded everything else from his sphere of interests.”
The Case of Charles Dexter Ward

ANTIQUARIANS
Dragons who stumble across the supernatural come from all walks of life: artists, mathematicians, astronomers, and philosophers. However, the most notorious investigators are usually antiquarians, a term to describe history enthusiasts and antique collectors. These dragons are exceptionally curious and usually uncover records best left untouched. These dragons come from or are attracted to the Light flight, since it is closely aligned with scholarly pursuit and relic collection. Their appearance is usually neutral or muted, but their minds are always very bright. They often resemble the dusty books they devour in their free time. This dragon is the child of Past and Antiquity, the pair who began the investigation of eldritch mysteries. He is very interested in his parents' undertakings, which range from finding the location of R'lyeh to seeking information on the Elder Gods themselves. He is learning how to read some of the languages that existed before the Third Age. Personality: Gepoyetes, for the vast majority of his life has been reserved and always a bit… off, in the words of his peers. His passions and pursuits have always been a large time consumer for him, and he can be rather hard to talk to unless the topic is something he knows well. Even still; he's not the talkative type, usually grumbling small answers and giving you the cold shoulder. If you try to push it, he gets abrasive quickly; it's clear that he covets his interests like gold, and doesn't mind coming off as antisocial to anyone else. However, if you do indulge him, you'll find that pride goes right to his head when praised and blinds him to the kindness he’s actually getting. It's as if he knows the praises already, and takes glory in the fact that you said it out loud.
Behavior: There are dragons who like to stay put, the city dwellers; and those who like to travel all across the continent. Gepoyetes is something in-between, more of a wanderer. He couldn't live without a home, but said space stays dusty and unclean constantly as he slips out for days or even weeks. Civilization has its irreplaceable merit, such as his favorite pastime of slipping into any bookstore or antique store he can find, paging over each item with an intent that sometimes frightens the shopkeeps. Many of the larger dragon species tend towards combat, but Gepoyetes has never been the athletic type and avoids physical activity. He does enjoy hiking and flights, as they give him time to think, but only alone, and usually not for long.
Ambitions: A legacy is the first of his long list, a legacy made of something that will far outlive even the dragons. As an avid historical researcher, one key note he keeps in his head is how all of history is represented in artifacts that stood time, mostly ruins of buildings and stonework. If his ambitions were to have a motto, it would be that nothing can become a legend without first being modern. He doesn't especially seek to copy old methods, but really whatever will last the longest. His ideals are all in towards the future when he’s already gone, being remembered or at least appreciated in thousands and thousands of years.
Backstory: Gepoyetes' parents were eccentric but popular, having and using charisma to present their findings to academic groups and the public. Being rather famous in multiple historical-related fields, they had the wealth and accumulated power to only work when they wished on projects of fancy. They also had so many, many hatchlings, so many they could barely keep them all straight. Gepoyetes himself was rather isolated as a child, all of his siblings were as they moved into different levels of study as they grew. They weren't unloved, but sometimes their parents would forget their names... Gepoyetes was very intelligent, one of his parent’s favorite children due to not branching off their legacy and finding so much joy in their past work.
Profession: Professional architect, with a long-term project in rebuilding Havendish City and finding… strange things, while on his breaks for inspiration… He wants to build a legacy that will outlive him, yes; but later comes a deeper, more sinister motivation as he learns the unfairness of how it's not only the good things that survive the testing of time…
Interests: The old and wise imperial holds a fascination with the strange and unknown, because of so much exposure to everything else. He’s a smart mind, and a bored one. Historical relics share incomplete stories that keep him wondering, happily awake at night and thinking; what came before me, what will come after? What can we never know, what has been lost to time? Questions might be his biggest hobby, and the thing that leads him to the darkest conclusions. When he gets his claws into something old, he won't rest until he knows exactly what it is, where it came from, what it was used for, and who made it down to the name.
