______ Tairin was born with the gift of prophecy and foresight, in a manner similar to and yet entirely different from that of the Tidelord. Instead of bubbles, it is the rustling of the leaves and the creaking of branches that whispers of what’s to come. Nature itself speaks to him, and he has no choice but to listen.

______ His gift - or curse, depending on the day - isn’t all bad. There have been several times where Tairin’s warnings have saved people…and several times where they haven’t. Knowing the future is a terrible thing, and a heavy burden to bear. But Tairin is used to it. He hears what he hears, and even if his gift helps only one person, dragon or otherwise, it’s enough for him.

______ Yes, he even warns the Beastclans if what he hears involves them. Their lives are no different from that of dragons’, after all. Many times, though, the whispers aren’t ominous - in fact, they can range anywhere from dire proclamations of doom to a harmless piece of information. Really, it’s the latter Tairin hears much more often than not. He has so much blackmail material on everyone else. It’s helped keep him safe when interacting with the more violent individuals…but also gotten him into more than his fair share of trouble.

______ During one such visit to a Beastclan settlement, a Serthis archivist by the name of Riida became very interested in the whispers Tairin could hear, likening them to the Serthis’s and Maren’s own prophecies and portents. Giddy at the idea of more knowledge from such a unique and unknown source, he insisted on going with Tairin and recording each and every whisper for posterity, no matter how trivial. Tairin was bemused at first, but has long since come to see Riida as a friend.

______ Tairin adopted Eridanus after the whispers led him to a hatchling barely a day old, delirious with fever and on death's door. Tairin and Riida frantically rushed the little one to Tamua, and got him there in time for the healer to save his life. As Eridanus had been too young to remember his name, much less where he was from, Tairin named him for the river constellation and raised him as his son. He couldn't be prouder of the dragon the Imperial has become.
