Red

Ripper's mate, the father to Lucifer, Rage, Blood, grandfather to Valoran, and Reaper; the future father-in-law to Searing, and patriarch to the Red Ripper clan. He forms a close relationship with a young dragon by the name of Legion; however, his heart is quickly torn to shreds when Ripper finds out about their friendship and she exiles Legion as punishment.

Months later, Red leaves home so he can spend some time with Legion. She takes him to her new home and they start up a small family. Legion decides to stay with the Neon Nights to protect her family from Ripper's wrath. Red hopes that one day all of his hatchlings can meet each other without worrying about what Ripper would do to his other family.

Red's youngest son, Blood, was attacked and exiled by his family. In an effort to save his son, Red decides to take his son to the outer fringes of his clan's territory, and nurse him back to health. Realizing that he's not that different from Blood, Red makes the decision to send his son to live with Legion in the hope that she'll love and protect him just like she does with Reaper.

Red's granddaughter Valoran was in a similar situation as Blood, and he escorts her to the Neon Nights clan where Legion has promised to protect her. The problem is that unlike Blood, Valoran is favored by Ripper, and she is furious with her granddaughter's disappearance. Red tries to cover his tracks by claiming that Valoran went away for extensive training, and that she'll return someday. Ripper believes her husband, so she turns her attention back to training Rage, who is also furious with her daughter's disappearance.

Because of his involvement with Legion, Red is away from his clan most of the time, and he has no idea that his son had his birthright taken away from him and given to his son-in-law.
