Biography

DEORSUS
THE FORGOTTEN ONE
{ "While ignorance may be bliss, it by no means brings you safety." }

A small group of dragonets giggled as they played and pounced through the overgrown forest deep within the Tangled Wood. They paid no mind to the stories of the primal dangers that lurked within those woods, passed down from generation to generation. Just stories to scare disobedient hatchlings, the young dragons had decided

The forest was dark. That was nothing unusual for the Tangled Wood, but the fog and darkness here seemed to choke everything, hanging in the air so thick it almost seemed like it should be underwater instead. The silence was uncomfortable. There was not a sign nor sound of any creature in those woods, save for the group of dragonets themselves, their courage wavering the deeper they delved into the forest.

“Maybe this was a bad idea,” one of the dragonets finally voices his doubts. The others are not so keen on admitting their ever growing fears, and ignore him as they continue onward.

“Look at this,” one of them says, nodding at a large patch of flowers blooming on a small hill. “Something so pretty wouldn’t survive in a place that was really so dangerous,” she insists, more to assure herself than anyone else as she moved closer to inspect the seafoam blossoms. She reaches out to pick a flower, but no matter how hard she pulls, the blossom refuses to let go of the grassy slope.

A low rumble echoes through the woods, causing the dragonets to freeze in terror. What had looked so much like a hill of flowers, was suddenly recognized as something much more alive. A shaggy head with massive antlers rose and turned to regard the dragonets with piercingly bright eyes. A powerful maw opened with a snarl to reveal massive teeth.

Deorsus blinked the sleep from his eyes as he finished yawning, watching in confusion as a group of small dragons screamed in terror and fled. With a low hum, he slowly stood, shaking out his small wings.

How long had he been here? Deorsus didn’t know. It was then that the Gaoler noticed the flowers and foliage growing all over him.

A long time, then.

There were so many plants covering him, Deorsus experienced quite the trouble breaking free of the natural chains; roots and vines that laced all through his fur. But no amount of plants would contain him... at least, not anymore.

His memory was hazy at best, but Deorsus couldn’t shake the feeling that he hadn’t simply fallen asleep. A nagging voice in the back of his mind insisted that someone had put him here. That voice also seemed to be certain that he hadn’t been supposed to wake up yet, if at all.

For a moment, Deorsus stood there, wondering why he was awake. Recalling the screaming dragonets, the Gaoler decided they had awoken him somehow. Letting out a deep bellow that seemed to shake the earth he stood on, Deorsus declared his awakening to any who could hear it. He was back, and he intended to find out why he had been trapped here... and perhaps more importantly, who had been responsible for it.

Deorsus set out, a mountain of foliage and flowers trudging through the heavy darkness of the forest, searching for answers.
