The Queen's Companion
Of course Hamlet attempt to exude what he supposes is the air of aristocracy, in truth he's actually a melodramatic dragon with too much time on his hands to not over react. Expressiveness, though, seems to be his more charming side Hamlet was disheartened to not have been paired with anyone and felt a little lonely. Sea Bloom has told him that a dragon couple has moved in from Lightning to make their new homes here and that their gift would be a single hatchling. When Hakkar and Notori's first Wind Nest hatched, Hamlet pleaded for the girl with the white belly to stay within the clan. This was allowed~ now Hamlet is proud to say he is part of a pair~ Unfortunately this pair was doomed to fail. Hamlet and Ophelia didn't even have the foundations for a successful mate-ship in the first place beyond being familiar with one another. They had no passion for one another and didn't really seem to understand each other. Hamlet was theatric, expressive, and playful while Ophelia was a more serious and studious dragon. She rather idle her time with books than with him. The nest always felt a little empty. On top of that, Ophelia was never happy with her hatchlings from him. She always frowned at them as they tried to cuddle up to her. They were incredibly unhappy with one another. Following Sea Bloom's retirement and self exhalation, the pair parted. |
His days were lonely and he was stressed much like the rest of the clan at the time. They were adjusting to their new leader and were headed to move to a new territory. The clan was shifting and he noticed new figure heads made their home in his clan.
One day while he was loafing around, too unhappy to even socialize, a small and black Fae with eyes as deep as the blackest waters hopped over to him and the two began to speak. She asked about his life thus far, his hobbies, and his aspirations. They spoke about politics, the weather, food, and just about anything that came up. He was pretty happy about this.
Later on, once the moon was rising higher in the sky and Ceremony was heard roaring into the night sky, the Fae stated that it seemed it was time to settle back down into her nest and she told him to meet her the next morning in the hall under the hollowed ice tower.
And he did.
There he started a new life.
He learned the Fae he was speaking to was a Queen (in title only, it seems) and that she wanted to add him to her court of loyal dragons. He did want to be in a social group so he agreed to this. With that he was given a new name.
Topaz.
Later on he learned that Ophelia was also part of Beryl's court and was renamed Alexandrite. He'd have to agree that while they didn't see eye to eye he would be a fool to not recognize her beauty and that even her new name echoed that same beauty.
Topaz really doesn't do much and finds himself being the Queen's conversation partner more than anything. He's even found love in a lovely Imperial named Celestine. True love even!
He's finally happy~
