Though born to Lightning, she spends her time on and around the icebergs that break away from the Southern Icefield. They are each little ecosystems - krill, fish, seabirds, all thriving in one way or another on the nutrients once trapped within that ancient ice and now melting back into the waters. And even the coldest, smallest pockets of life could use a warden, especially as the berg inevitably shrinks, leaving all of its tiny denizens without a perch or a source of food.

She finds a berg and hitches it to her little boat, letting it tow her about as it drifts further from the continent. (That's fine - she knows the way home.) Fish have already begun to gather, feasting on the plankton which feast on the old ice-trapped dust. The big fish will move on eventually, but when the berg melts, the little once will have nowhere to go. And this one is drifting northeast, closer to the Ashfall Wastes, where the water is practically boiling.

When it is too hot, and the dark blue ice melts away, she will take the little things that have made homes in its holes and its cracks, and she will bring them somewhere new. It's a simple task, a bit of a silly role to play, perhaps - but to the tiny fish in the cracks of the iceberg, it might be the most important job in the world. She thinks so, too.
