Ondal’s waking hours are spent in a flurry of activity; training new recruits, advising clan leadership and battling in active combat. His training courses are rigorous, for himself as well as his pupils, for he prefers demonstration to explanation. Leigh and Raden trust his practical judgment and rarely interfere with his daily tasks. Though diligent and tireless in his work, Ondal still reserves daily time for himself. When lunch is served he slips away to some secluded nook to relish a bit of peace and quiet. In unspoken agreement the clan respects his seclusion. The esteem he commands cannot be attributed to his title alone, but has been earned through his own dependable and candid nature.

Thus he tends to shock new acquaintances who join him on the battlefield. He is no quiet adviser General to sit back and command from the rear. Ondal leads the charge; bellowing orders and striking savagely with tooth and claw. But those who have battled by his side the longest affirm that Ondal never forgets his soldiers. They may be exhausted at the end of battle, injured and shaky, but Ondal is always right with them. Bearing the same cuts and bruises with a satisfied grin. It is this spirit that wins his troop's unwavering loyalty. Loyalty he wears as a badge of honor and pride.

Luckily, the affectionately sharp-tongued Letizia is around to keep his head from growing over large. The pair are the happy result of a not so happily arranged match. Each being supremely independent, neither fancied the idea, but their initial misgivings blossomed into a devout relationship. The pair’s matching pendants a proclamation of their affection.
