PAST: The Hermit
The traditional Rider-Waite deck displays a grey-clad and bearded man, which harkens us to reflect on the parts of life that aren't quite so black and white - the greys in between. As ambivalent as they are, these are the moments were we oftentimes learn a great deal, about ourselves, about others, about the Universe. While there is an air of loneliness or solitude about the Hermit, this card is not one of weakness nor negativity. If you have any self-doubts or struggle with individuality, don't give up on yourself now or anytime soon; you've come this far and if you just take it step by step, you'll continue to go much further still. This card implies enlightenment and inner strength (possibly even spiritual growth if you're spiritually or supernaturally inclined at all). Remember that you are a finite individual, that there is no you but you, and that for every bit of your life it is you that's always been there for you, and always will be. When others try to shake you, find comfort in yourself and manifest that into confidence and character. With the knowledge you've gained from everything you've experienced, remember that the hermit also represents truth and balance of the utmost highest importance. It is imperative that, you are honest as you lean on yourself for strength and guidance; only in this sincerity will you be productively and kindly introspective as you continue on your path. |

* FUTURE: King of Pentacles "To see him in the cards is to envision success - one that was won by earnest work. Generally, this card reminds us to stay in control of our energy and our resources in pursuit of a larger goal." Using your motivations and dreams as your drive to push yourself forward, you too can have the sophisticated success and responsibility that the King of Pentacles represents - or rather the King of Coins in some decks, to highlight its ties to prosperity and worldly success. This highly ambitious card is a cherry on top to the prior journey taken to reach the peak of this mountain; as difficult of a climb as that may be, just remember that the fruits of your labor are more rewarding than waiting for your dreams to simply come to you by chance. This future is not in your immediate future, no, but it's waiting for you with a majestic view and a glorious sense of accomplishment you simply won't find anywhere else. Some important tips to help you make this future even brighter or closer than it may otherwise be... Towards yourself, be self-supportive and critically thoughtful; don't let yourself fall victim to the motivation that's driving you forward; and the continuous importance of balance within is irrefutable. |
What does the Universe have in store for me? |
*
The Star Shining bright and abound with energy, The Star is all about inspiration, transcending expectations, and personal freedom. If you're particularly spiritual, then this is also a symbol of your connection with the divine higher powers that be. "You are realizing your core essence, who you are beneath all the layers. No matter what life throws your way, ... You hold a new sense of self, a new appreciation for the core of your Being." This card is a positive omen all around, and serves as a reminder that you are full of promise, that the Universe sees you shining. This card follows the Tower, and in the story of the tarot deck, representative of the calm after the storm. It is a sign that everything will be ok, and a reminder that you are capable of re-emerging shiny and new from the aftermath. If you've been struggling with your self esteem lately, or if you've been going through a period of doubt, then look inward for your strength. The Universe has your back and sees you shining. |

Take a step back and reorganize |
At the present, the Two of Pentacles can guide you into a balanced lifestyle. This card is all about proper prioritization and time management, so if you're seeing it, then it's time to take a step back and reorganize. If you're feeling overwhelmed or burnt out, then don't feel like you can't take a moment to recuperate - in fact it's encouraged to take a break sometimes, and may improve your productivity if you haven't in a while. If something important is being put on the back-burner, this is your sign to stop procrastinating.
|
Nine of Cups represents your challenge facing personal dissatisfaction. Whatever you hold dear, its time to put those ducks in a row. With the energy of the Two of Pentacles, you can face this challenge. It's important to reflect on what's truly meaningful to you, and to prioritize them appropriately. Don't forget to include yourself when addressing this!
|
Everyone starts somewhere, and no journey can continue forward without the first step. Preparation, gathering resources, is a huge part of foundation-building, and as such the Four of Pentacles represents all the wealth you've gained. This isn't just worldly, but rather that priority list you've established. All the resources you have attained to maintain the best for yourself and what you deem the most valuable are what this card represents. May you have a bounty of wealth to sort through, and your only problem be in sorting out your many wonderful blessings of life.
|
As above is The High Priestess reminding us to look within for strength. We oftentimes have the answers we seek within us, hiding in plain sight. In preparation to truly face your challenge, you have reflected on what you have and what is worth being gratuitous for. For some, this reminder is all we need to face our struggles with contentment. If it is not, then there is nothing wrong with now facing what you don't have - with addressing what you need. Only you can decide what is of most value to you; only you can decide what your personal success and contentment looks like. Don't sell yourself short of what you deserve. |
*
* So below is the The Fool, representing your new beginning. Once you reflect and discover your innermost needs and values, you can start refreshed and anew. Contributing to the optimism of the Nine of Wands, the Fool urges you to have faith in the process - you are on the right path, you just need to have trust in yourself and the Universe. It's possible that you may be expected to make a leap of faith in order to achieve your goals for the future or to protect your current assets, and this card implies good fortune if you are willing to take that risk for the greater good. |
Only you can decide what your personal success and contentment looks like |
|
Don't forget that you yourself are incredibly valuable, and that you deserve to be considered as one of, if not, your topmost priority, depending on the context and moment. Four of Swords reminds you of you need to rest and recuperate on occasion. You can't effectively take care of those you love nor your responsibilities if you don't also take care of yourself. Sometimes trying to go go go and keep on do do doing everything results in complete burnout. To avoid this, as you breach each milestone towards accomplishing your goal, be a friend to yourself and give yourself the break you need before jumping back in.
|
Another Nine, the Nine of Pentacles bares more wisdom for you from an outermost perspective. This card conveys security, and suggests that you have been blessed in life with certain privileges and opportunities. This card reminds you that each and every blessing you've received has been earned and deserved. Like the other nines in the tarot, sometimes this card indicates that the querent has not yet reached completion in their journey. So perhaps you aren't quite here yet, but prosperity is around the corner; this card is reassurance of that.
|
The King of Swords sheds light on your fears - the truth. Perhaps you have a hard time taking criticism, or perhaps you are just self-doubting that you are capable enough to accomplish what you hope to. Even Kings have doubts at times; having the ability to reflect and concern yourself with what is wrong is a good step forward, and proves how much you care. Don't be afraid; trust in and be kind to yourself. Get out of your own way.
|
Five of Swords symbolizes the outcome of your hard work. You're on your way to success, and with success comes the challenge of truly accomplishing and consistently maintaining it. This is no easy task, but winning above all else is not the key to true success. Never forget the list of priorities, that list of your life's blessings. This card also reminds us that without loss, we cannot appreciate gain for what it truly is. The Five of Swords ... suggests that after a period of conflict, you are ready to move forward with your life and create positive change. Bring your energy back within and ground yourself. As tough as success is, it's worth it; you're worth it.

Presently, you're at odds; perhaps its with yourself, with loved ones, or even competitors in an event or the workplace. The Five of Wands is a very conflicted card, one signifying a struggle and aggression. If the battle is within, then this card means that you're having a hard time with your temper; it's totally fine to allow yourself to feel your anger wholly and truly, but it's very important to find productive outlets for that anger, lest we do regrettable and/or destructive things. Don't let anger cloud you. If the battle is external, then this card is telling you that now is an ideal time to learn cooperation and compromise.
|
Your challenge is that you can't win them all, which is represented by the Five of Swords. Depending on the exact struggle you're having, and whether it's internal, external, or both, this card could be offering different advice. At its best, this card is telling you to stand up for yourself where you're failing to. You matter too, and if you're not receiving the respect you know you deserve, then it's time to be a friend to yourself, and take a stand against any bullying, violence, or crime. At its worst, this card is warning you of defeat, deception, or even surrender. Sometimes things don't go the way we want or expect, but there is no glory in winning without the humility of loss. There are even times where giving up is the right and best thing to do; knowing when to let go and preserve your energy for more worthwhile ventures is valuable too.

If you've felt held back, it's your time to let loose and dance like nobody's watching. If you've been waiting, now is your moment to share the enthusiasm and inspire. Whenever your conflicts get the best of you, just look to The Sun, and remember that you have a bright future ahead of you, just waiting for you to be ready to get there, soaking it all up.

The outcome you're looking at is one ultimately of success, thoughtful self-discipline, and integrity. The King of Swords himself is a methodical and strong ruler that prefers displays of intellect and logic over emotional ones, at least publicly. Sometimes this can make him appear clinically cold or stern, so learn from his mistakes - don't be a dictator, be a just and loyal King. The King of Swords also operates on a very strict routine, which depending on your goals is a very healthy lead to take after. This card also reminds you not to stray from the path - be fair to yourself, to others, to the law. With this, you are looking at the royal success of Kings and a rich legacy.
