Lotusborne was an arcane scholar studying the plague flight's magic, but she made a mistake and got too close to the infection. Lotusborne was infected and the next thing she remembers is waking up in a pile of rotting corpses and hungry scavengers, likely having been dragged there under the assumption she was dead. Lotusborne fought against the fatigue and pain she felt and tore her way out of the mound. After that she wandered the Abiding Boneyard for years, slaying beasts and collecting scraps of metal and cloth to create her own armour, and more importantly: learning to control the pestilence and hunger within her. Her infection caused her body to bleed, even her eyes became blood-red rendering her indistinguishable from a native plague dragon.

After deciding that she had all the control she would ever obtain, Lotusborne crossed into the Starwood Strand with every intention of simply passing through. However, night fell suddenly, so when Lotusborne found a clan she decided to rest until morning, not knowing that the night was eternal. It took almost no time for Lotusborne to feel right at home in Kage no Sekai, so she moved into the clan. And soon after, Nargacuga offered her the position of representative of the Plague flight, which she gladly accepted.
