Biography

Solanaceae is an interesting plant family. Perhaps its most famous member is Atropa belladonna, the deadly nightshade, featured in countless murder mysteries and dramas. While Europe had many toxic and psychoactive members, the Americas and East Asia had plenty of the world's most important crops as members of the seemingly deadly family. Tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant, bell and chili peppers, along with goji berries, tomatillo and tobacco are all part of the nightshade family.
