Dusk Aconite Moor Thistle Polarized Mushrooms Battered Book of Fables Jade Stardust Sap Lamp

He emerged from the odd, glowing plant pod and into the open night air, tumbling out as his legs weren't strong enough to hold up his weight. He was fully grown and waiting for his wings to be pumped full of blood and the feeling in his legs to return. He looked down at himself, not knowing who he was, nor how he got here, but his thoughts were quickly taken over by the beauty of the night sky.

He stared up at the twinkling lights that seemed as though they were dancing, admiring all the colors that were lining the sky amongst the deep, dark black. Greens, yellows and even some purples shown bright across the sky in a brilliant display. Aurora Borealis...

He wondered how he knew that, he couldn't remember seeing them before, infact his memory seemed to be completely missing from his mind and yet he understood things. He understood that he was sitting on clovers, what stars were, what the name for the pretty lights were. Yet, hadn't he just been born? But his size seemed normal for that of an adult veilspun. Was he dead? His head was spinning with so many thoughts that he couldn't understand, but he knew that he should stay calm for now, he would have plenty of time to figure everything out.

He breathed in, focusing on the air inside of his lungs, he was alive. His stomach growling loudly made that even more apparent. For now he needed to focus on getting himself something to eat and finding a place to sleep.

As his eyes adjusted more and he was able to focus on things other then the bright lights in the sky, he looked into the darkness of the woods around him, seeing large buildings that he hoped were the homes of other dragons. He gave himself a few more moments before attempting to stand again, legs shakily lifting his body from the ground. This was a start, he could do this. He stretched, rolling his shoulders, his wings began buzzing into action and after a couple seconds he was airborne, flying through the night sky towards the homes in the distance.

He had been very quickly stopped almost as soon as he had started, a sword that was longer than the length of his body had cut through the air and stopped right before it sliced through his throat. He gulped, head turning to look at who was wielding the weapon. A teenage girl with violent, light green eyes that had smoke emitting from them and mushrooms growing from her skin was staring back at him, she didn't seem pleased in the slightest.

"Who are you?" Her voice sounded equally as aggressive as the look on her face, "State your name and your business. For what reason did you not go through the front gates?"

"I..." He wasn't sure what to say, he didn't even know half of that information himself. "I can't remember my name...I believe I was just born but I don't understand how that could be possible with my size. I came from over there." He pointed a claw in the direction of the tree he had come from.

Her expression changed from that of anger to what seemed to be a mix of shock and horror, which made him even more worried about his existence. "How could that be..." She dropped her sword to her side, a hand being placed over her lips, going silent for several moments while he buzzed in the air.

"I'm sorry.." He wasn't entirely too sure why he felt the need to apologize.

The girl sighed, shaking her head and looking back in the direction of the houses, then to him, she extended out her arm towards him, "Sit. You're likely tired."

"..Sit?"

She raised an eyebrow at him, "Do you not know what sitting is?"

"No! No, I do, its just that sitting in your hand seems a little…odd?"

She sighed once more, "I'm attempting to be kind to you, please sit."

He didn't argue any further, sitting in her hand and then immediately relaxing, long tail swaying in the breeze as she began to walk. "May I ask where it is you're taking me?"

"To our clan leader, she needs to decide what your fate will be. I'm merely a paladin, I can't make important decisions like this for the clan." The girl looked very strong. He could see it now that he was getting a closer look at her, she was quite short and lanky but was surprisingly muscular.

"My fate..? They're not going to kill me, are they?" He looked quite scared now, pondering if he should quickly fly away but not having any idea of where he would even go. For all he knew, this would be the safest place for him.

The girl shook her head, looking down at him, "No. If I had intended on killing you I would've done so already. You're not presenting yourself as a threat, so I have no reason to kill you. She will simply decide if you will stay or if you will go." He was a bit worried by that statement, but being without a home was better than being dead.

As she walked through the small village he looked around at all the different buildings of various sizes, all made from wood with clover lawns, flowers planted along each path, lanterns lighting the way. It appeared to be quite late into the night so he was surprised to see that there were still windows with lights on the other side, including the house that the two seemed to be walking towards.

As the girl walked up to the doorway he felt his heart pick up, he was anxious, he was having to entrust himself to a bunch of strangers. This woman had seemed like a nice enough person but she had been incredibly imposing, so he was terrified knowing that the person behind this door was likely going to be much worse. As it opened and a head popped out, a woman with kind eyes and a big smile beamed at the other who was currently carrying him, "Gourd!"

She opened the door fully, revealing how impossibly tall she was, "What brings you-" She looked down at the girls hand, noticing him, smiling, "A visitor? I didn't know that we had someone arriving."

The girl who he now knew as Gourd shook her head, "No..he came out of that pod in the tree..I don't really understand this myself. What do we do?"

She looked as shocked as Gourd had before, placing a hand on her shoulder and ushering them inside, closing the door afterwards. "This is..extremely strange. I'm not too sure what to do myself..Maybe I should get Ender involved?"

"That would probably be for the best.."

"I'm sorry," He finally spoke up, the two of them both looking down at him, "But I think I would like to be involved if my future is going to be discussed. Who is Ender? Why did I emerge from a tree? What's going to happen to me..?"

The two women looked to each other and then the taller of the two bent down so she could be face to face with him, "I'm sorry, we're just a little…shocked, at the moment. Something like this has never happened to us before and this clan is still very new. Before all of that, what should I call you?"

He still didn't have a name, or at least not one that he could remember, but he had a feeling he would be asked this question a lot. He needed something that people could address him by. "I don't…" He thought for a moment, he had awoken on some clover-like plants, what were they called again? "Dichondra, you can call me that to make things easier. I don't know the name I once had, if I even did have one before.."

"Well, Dichondra, my name is Cucurbita, though you can call me Bita like how everyone else does. I’ll be honest with you..I don’t have the answer to most of your questions, but I know someone that might, at the very least he could aid us in figuring things out. Until then, you can stay in my home with me, alright?” She seemed to be genuine in her words and it’s not like he had anywhere else to go, so with a timid smile he nodded his head.

“Thank you, I’ll try my best to remember something in the meantime.”
