A demon prince, a little lord of hell, or possibly just an annoying kid with luck on his side. Nobody's really sure, though he claims to be the first hell, the worst of any hells. He is certainly annoying. Whatever Ash is, whoever Ash is, he knows too much. And he is rather proud of it; he goes here, he goes there, and far behind him there is always smoke, maybe from hellfire, maybe from a burning trainwreck, maybe none of these things, maybe all of these things. There is something in the smoke, in the dust he leaves behind; always chasing, always building but never catching up. A hunt. And one he will use to hunt himself, like the djando bird above the bushfire.

Ash's tastes lie in all things bootleg; these make others angry, and in their anger they turn their attentions upon him. Pokemon is his preference, Pikachu almost his uniform in certain places, but he knows of many things - especially the things with large fanbases that may lavish attention on him. While he knows a surprising amount about the fandoms he mocks, Ash rarely engages them on their own terms. He'd lose if he did; he does not know how to play Yu-Gi-Oh, nor Pokemon, nor Monopoly, and while he knows the name of the Ogre, he has never watched the whole of Shrek. His imitations often ring hollow as a result. Ash claims he does this on purpose to annoy others further, but this rings hollow too. Maybe he really is just a lonely kid on the run, looking for somewhere - anywhere - that will accept him; claiming his own mistakes to be deliberate 'jokes' or 'trolling' to save face when he is thrown back. Or hell, maybe he's a demon lord. Who knows?

Overpowered in every way by the monsters of his daily life, Ash often resorts to his silver tongue, explaining away those scars - strange bitemarks, with far too many teeth. It's made him many useful allies, and he's dropped them just as quickly. That's when it's time for a change - of place, of friends, of hoodie. But never of name; let the hunt come. Hoods and hoodies are probably Ash's favorite clothing item - it's rare to see him without one, even in the heat of summer. Pikachu is his favourite; the fuzzy rat almost feels like a friend at this point. Ash wishes he could keep a friend. |
