Biography

update: once it was decided that they would leave the valley Celandine set about preparing their journey based off of the terrain and mental map that Pohnpei had provided her. She filled in the gaps using Mona's help and a bit of scrying. How the clan would cross the ocean without leaving behind its land bound members was a bit of a conundrum. Maybe a large tree of some sort? She knew that the earth and nature mages altered and shaped plants to serve their purposes at times, but could they create something on that magnitude?

She stopped by Fog's garden first. The fae was perched on a shattered tree trunk, munching on a juicy, gross looking caterpillar. Fog did not notice her until she finished with her delicacy.

"how is your planning? have any ideas on how our journey will work?"

"I don't know." Celandine said as she looked out over the garden, vacantly observing it while in thought, "charting a route is easy, but getting everyone there not so much. Is it possible to use a tree or something that can hold the one like Shenandoah?"

Fog chewed on her claw for a moment while mulling over the question. "I have seen trees used as tools and transport before. I have never created more than simple objects with alteration magic. If it can be done, you should ask the others."

Celandine walked away, saying nothing more, and decided that bombadilita would know best, if she could be located.

She stopped by what bombadilita called a lair, which was a variety of large flowers that curved inward, hiding her bedding spot. It was empty. "Where would I go if I were nutty for flowers?" she wondered aloud. Leading to the east, towards the viridian labyrinth, was a scattered line of flowers. As good a place as any to begin to look for her.

Celandine followed it for about two hours around the slopes of small mountains and through patches of mighty enchanted trees to its stopping place, outside an area of the forest that was thick with underbrush and brambles. "its a wonder she has the sense to be a mage..." she said to herself. Who knew how far the wacky skydancer traveled? As she was debating on whether to use magic or strength to navigate the underbrush there was a rustling in the distance.

She waited and watched. With luck, it would be Bombadilita, but Celandine had lived in the labyrinth long enough to be cautious about forest critters. Like those stupid giant snails her clan kept breeding.

A splash of pink color

Meadowflower? No... It moved weird, like it had one leg

It pushed against the underbrush and burst out into the clearing. Her plumage began to rustle and stand on end. NOT GOOD! She had never seen anything like it.

In its full glory, a huge pink rose stood there looking at her. It let out a low, aggressive growl, crouched, and began to make bounding leaps toward her. Instinctively, Celandine built up a magic charge. flowers don't growl she realized.

she unleashed a dispel wave and moved to the side at the same time. an educated gamble. The flower freak tried to leap over the spell, but didn't make it.

There was a loud rush akin to pouring a cup of water on a hot fire.

Bombadilita fell forward where the flower had been a moment before.

"AHA!" cried Celandine as the skydancer skidded along the ground. "In all of Sornienth there are no leaping, aggressive flowers!"

She lay there a moment, and just as Celandine thought the nature mage was going to sulk, she erupted into laughter.

"you looked like you had just seen a war toad!" Bombadilita snickered.

"You clown! I thought that your fool adventures were finally going to be the end of me!" Celandine said, half serious.

As Bombadilita gathered herself Celandine began to recount her journey and her conundrum. Through their discourse on the way back to clan catfish it was decided that Oakhealer was the next best dragon to consult.

Oakhealer's lair was a tunnel excavated under the corpse of a tree guardian that had decomposed into a mossy mound shadowed by the great oaks of Massanutten's forest valley. It had various herbs and weeds that grew about the entrance. A small herd of blue reef snails scattered about the mound sat motionless, napping away the daylight hours with their eye stalks tucked away inside their heads. As soon as Celandine and Bombadilita stopped outside, Oakhealer poked up her head from the tunnel to greet them. this dragon must have a ward that alerts her to visitors

"What brings the two of you here on this fine day?" she asked. "You make a pair that is seldom seen together." She stepped out of the entrance, accompanied by an entourage of glowing reef snails.

Bombadilita covered her eyes with her claws feigning shame "I'm afraid we've lost our minds." and then giggled. "We need a giant log to float the clan across the ocean."

Oakhealer stood silent with her mouth a gape looking at the skydancer, then regained her compsure. "Of course we are, in response to the emergency brought to us by our friend, Dolores, no doubt."

Celandine didn't bother making eye contact, "Its unconventional, but a good portion of the clan won't be able to reach the land of the Lightbringer if we don't create something."

Oakhealer eyed Bombadilita and began to smile, "I think between the three of us there is enough experience to alter a plant into a form of transportation that the land dwellers can use." She lowered her head and bit a mint stalk in half, chewing it. "I've created some rather large wooden objects over the course of my life, mostly to house animals and such. A large bouyant object shouldn't be too difficult"

Several weeks after arriving her mate, Kairshu, decided that his best chance for glory was to serve directly under the Lightbringer. After a painful goodbye, he departed so that he could pledge himself to unquestionably obey the god's will.

LIkes to hang out in the Sargasso sea and take care of sea turtles.

Celandine also uses her knowledge of the water realm to boost the clan's ability to water its crops and to navigate the oceans.

She forms a team with Catfish and Massanutten that is designed to take down the clan's enemies as well as provide a strong party for exploration or diplomacy.

Recently recruited Hadopelagius after he assisted Celandine in a fight with a weird sea urchin creature.

Having risen to the status of scholar, Celandine teaches and guides the clan in the realm of magic and maintains the clan history.

Her new mate is Kairshu, who helps her on her adventures to recover magical items and lost ancient knowledge.

They are proud of their strong, healthy children, who are a good omen.
